Hey Reddit family , so this was my very first batch of soap I used:
Shea Butter Base 1stp Tumeric 1/4 Tea Tree Oil
As I melted the base in 30 sec intervals I noticed that as soon as I took the base out of the microwave it started to harden immediately leaving me literally under 10 seconds to pour . I tried stirring with my spatula and stick blender still no justice . The pic shows how the top layer looks bubbly . I tried spraying alcohol to dissolve the bubbles but I figured the alcohol percentage was too low .
If anyone has any tips on how to stop the base from hardening rapidly and how ..read more

Hi, I tried making my first batch of goats milk soap and I followed the recipe below:
16 oz coconut oil 16 oz olive oil 4.8 oz lye 10 oz frozen goats milk 1 tbsp vanilla oil
When I cut the soap after 24 hours, it looks kind of like cheese... The goats milk did reach a temperature of 85 F but not sure if that's an issue?
Is this normal for soap?

This is one thing I never see talked about but am always curious about trying - what are the rules of using two (or more) different fragrance oils in your soap?
I assume that as long as the amount of FO’s are added in compliance with the IFRA standards, you can add more than 1 fragrance. This seems like a silly question but can the batter only handle a certain amount of fragrance?

I am using brambleberry's fragrance oil for cold press and one of them says the IFRA limit is 4%. However, at 4%, the fragrance isn't that strong. I want to make it 6%. Realistically, what are the downsides? It's strange because in the review of the fragrance, even bramble berry mentions using 5% to make it stronger.

I have an opportunity to make small shower bars for a local motel. I want to make very thin bars. Does anyone have any experience using a wire cutter for this size?

Just made my first batch of soap. Do I need to spray them with alcohol to prevent soda ash? Will they continue to get hard? It seems very soft. Maybe I was impatient as I waited 48 hours to cut? Any advice/insight tips would be appreciated for future batches. I also shared my recipe!

Coconut allergy. I've looked through a lot of the posts, and the substitute for coconut oil are things I do not have (babassu, palm, I could get but would rather not). I found I did a lard recipe last year - 50% Lard, 45% olive oil, 5% castor. I do not remember it being anything but just fine, but looking at the soap calc numbers it doesn't look great. I have: argan, swt almond, sunflower, shea, cocoa, kokum, capcacu, mango butters. Thanks!

Heyya I'm new to making soap but I was just wondering where people recommend to buy fragrances for CP. I'm in Australia so wanting to buy within Australia... I've so far only made one purchase of fragrance ( about 7 different fragrances) half smelt really nice but the other half smelt like a cheap dollar shop. Where do you buy fragrances that are more " reliable " to smell good and not like a cheap rip off of a fragrance ?
