You won’t have to deal with training a puppy (unless you rescue a puppy) and having your house torn apart. Many shelter dogs are housebroken. Shelter dogs are also mostly mutts who experience less health problems as there’s less risk of incest in the bloodline than purebred. Plus, it’s nice to be able to tell people your dog’s back story and that you saved them! Shelters are full. You can pretty much find any dog you want (including hypoallergenic).
