TL;DR: UK senior fraud specialist with wide experience back in the US, looking for temporary contract work. Any leads or advice on finding these roles would be helpful. Hello r/banking! I'm a dual US/UK citizen with a background in fraud investigations, recently returned to the US after 15 years in the UK. I'm pivoting my career towards software engineering but need some income in the meantime. Because I worked at a smaller UK bank, my previous 2.5 years as a senior fraud specialist involved a wide range of responsibilities: Full-cycle case handling (customer contact, investigation, chargeba ..read more

Do US banks need to see inside your rental units in order to approve a loan?

A landlord gave two days notice to its tenant that they need access to the unit because the bank needs to see the inside of the unit in order to approve a loan they are trying to get. Do banks actually request access to the interior of your property as a condition for making a loan? Wouldn't the overall county assessed value of the property suffice? submitted by /u/caramelsbythesea [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I went to Bank of America today and deposited two checks—one a few hundred dollars and another for a couple thousand, both from the same company. There was no hold and the checks were to be available tomorrow. It says on the receipt and I asked the teller to confirm. She said no hold. Fast forward about two hours after the bank is closed, and I receive an email alerting me a hold has been placed on the larger check until Friday. The hold reason is: A hold was placed on your check(s) because check specific information indicates item may be returned. I called customer service for information an ..read more

I'm In need of some advice. I've got 15 years of backroom processing for a major bank. I'm thinking about getting into loan processing. Sounds crazy, but I actually enjoy paperwork. I have alot of experience working in a fast paced environment. I was a teller as well. I understand tight deadlines and the importance of following rules and regulations. Anyways, when applying, should I add a cover letter to my resume to show great interest in the position? This would all be new territory for me. Im also wondering what a typical day would be from beginning to end? Any ways to prepare for the inte ..read more

How safe is it to store stuff like cash or gold in a safety deposit box let’s say at a big bank. In terms of if the bank itself fails or there’s a run on the bank, is your stuff in the box untouched, and you’ll always have access to it? Interested in diversifying into let’s say physical gold or something but you don’t store that at home submitted by /u/Fun-Pain2395 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Refinanced Car, New Lien Holder and Need to Transfer Lien Ownership
Reddit - Savings, Checkings, CDs, oh my!

Hello, I refinanced my car a few months ago and recently received a letter from the credit union claiming I needed to fill out paperwork to change it to them. I’m reading there is a fee but the lien holder has not reached back out to me and I was wondering if the fee would have to be paid by me or would they add it to my loan? They didn’t mention anything about payment so I’m not 100% sure. Thanks! submitted by /u/jerseyhoagie [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
