Anxious about separating twins in different classrooms

Our identical 2.5 year old boys are in daycare now and starting in a preschool with mixed aged classrooms when they turn 3. The school’s preference is to split them up in different classrooms though they ultimately let the parents decide. I can rationalize that it’s better for them in developing independence, but I can’t help but feel sorry and anxious for them. They have never been apart. I would appreciate any thoughts and advice. Is there anything we can do to prepare them in advance? submitted by /u/Smittenmittel [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Looking to meet a fellow new twin parent. Anyone looking for a friend to talk about or vent about what it's like raising twins?

Anyone here who is a new twin parent looking for a friend to talk to about twin stuff? I am a new dad to twins and have a few parent friends but would love to meet some people who know what raising twins is like. Feel free to send me a chat request! I know there are a few twin groups out there but I am so busy that it's hard to get out there. The one near me me also doesn't allow kids under 2 so that makes it a bit difficult. submitted by /u/FrogBrassBand [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Tips for weaning 14mo

I have been super lucky to be able to exclusively breastfeed my boys. But they are 14 months now and I am over it. I loved breastfeeding but it's not enjoyable anymore and they are old enough to wean. They are throwing more and more tantrums for milk. It seems to be anytime we come home from being out or if they wake up grumpy. And NOTHING keeps them happy except for milk. They go to daycare and have daddy days where they don't see me for 10 hours and apparently are much more content when I am out of sight. I've tried redirection during the tantrums, screentime (bad, I know), snuggles, but th ..read more

Just turned 2 and have delayed speech. Is it time to start worrying?

Twin boys. Just turned 2. Twin A is a little more advanced than Twin B. Words include: Mom, Dad, Yes, No, Help Also know some sign language. Both boys have been in both physical therapy which is now finishing and speech therapy. They are both pretty chatty and do well at communicating overall but just do not speak actual words often. No one has told us they have any concerns but our oldest was saying sentences at 2 and we’re starting to get worried about one or both of them being on the spectrum a bit. Are we nuts? I sure hope not but am looking for some feedback and maybe some real world exa ..read more

Fellow c-sect moms, does anyone else get sad for not having the experience of a natural birth?

My exp is two c-sections (one emergency c-sect due to preeclampsia and 1 planned c-sect cos of twins and prior preeclampsia/high risk). 0 contractions. 0 water breaks. No pushing. Nothing. For the second one they didn't even leave me awake even tho that was my wish, with a poor explanation later as to why, supposedly to keep my legs from moving involuntarily or sth. My twins are almost 2 years old and I still get so sad sometimes. I feel robbed of an experience. I feel less self-worth because it feels like I cheated and took the "shortcut". I was attending a bday party with my eldest son and ..read more

My babies are nearing 20lbs combined and a wrap isn’t feeling as secure as it used to. I’ve seen a few different twin carriers but unsure about which one to choose. Let me know what you love and what you hate. My twins are only 8 weeks old so I don’t feel comfortable putting one of them on my back yet. TIA for any recommendations ? submitted by /u/Additional-Garlic680 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Depression setting in?

Do/can the third trimester hormones bring about depression? I’m familiar with depression. I’ve struggled with it on and off for 20+ yrs (since age 12). I usually take medication for it but I’ve stopped taking it at the onset of both my pregnancies. Both times I have been fine. Better than fine most of the time. I describe my bouts of depression not as extended grief or sadness, but bleak hopelessness. And in pregnancy, I have had tremendous amounts of hope, both times. Except for right now. I’m 31+4 days with di-di b/b twins and it’s been a brutal and challenging pregnancy all the way through ..read more

Help, underweight twin doesn’t want to eat

Our Baby A was in the NICU for a month. Once we got her home there was a host of specialty appointments, but eating was no issue. We’ve been doing calorie fortified breastmilk with similac neosure. A month after being home it got more difficult, she didn’t want to suck and would be really upset and fussy during feedings. Cue the next 7 weeks of weekly OT and nutritionist appointments. We initially believed it to be a feeding aversion, so we were trying to ‘follow her cues’ and work on strengthening her suck while at the same time get the minimum volume in her of calorie fortified breastmilk ..read more

Vehicle options

My car is in no way big enough for two infant seats and a stroller. I’m looking to trade it in, but I’m just at a loss for what to get. I’m mostly looking at mid-size SUVs. I want to avoid a mini van at all costs lol. If anyone has had a good experience with their vehicle or knows of a good vehicle that can carry all of the baby things then I’m all ears. My biggest priorities are room for babies and their stuff with some room to spare, and I live out further from many things so good gas mileage is also a priority. submitted by /u/Putrid_Study [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
