Inconsistent Groups with no Errors
Revit Forum
by Addy Arch

I am working on a tower project where we have some central walls in a group, placed on every floor. I noticed that one instance of the group was different; it had the exact same name (not a different/old group), there were no warnings asking me to "Fix Groups", and no members were excluded from the group instance. When I selected all instances in the entire project, Revit selected all of the identical groups and the different group. I decided to manually fix it by going into the group and moving a wall to see if it would then change the other groups - the correct groups all remained the same o ..read more

Experimenting with filters for phasing
Revit Forum

Has anyone experimented with using filters, not phase filters, for visibility and/or graphics for phasing? Now that have "phase created" and "phased demolished" it should be possible. I had someone in our electrical department request the ability to model existing/demo in our print views which isn't possible due to using the built-in phasing which requires demolition plans to be set to "New Construction". I would probably still control visibility with phase filters, but control graphics with filters ..read more

How do I find out the total number of items in a Revit schedule?
Revit Forum
by katewood1989

I tried asking ChatGPT, I thought it would be a straightforward thing, but it turns out, it is not. I may be missing something. Is there any way to find out through Revit how many items there are in a schedule. For instance, I have a door schedule including all the doors in the project. A consultant wants to know the total number of doors in the project. Reasonable question. I don't want to count it manually. I think Revit should be able to tell me without having to export it. Any ideas ..read more

Creating a beam with a Box/T section
Revit Forum

Hi everyone, I would like to understand if, and if so how, it was possible to create a beam with a particular section (for example T-shaped) on Revit. Or I would like to know if you know of the existence of a site from which you can directly download particular types of beams. To help you understand better, I attach three screens with different types of sections: - Full box section - Single T-section + Connection beam - Single section similar to H - End section (if you made separate sections) Let me know which one is the most feasible to achieve. Thanks in advance ..read more

Family Line Graphics Not Matching Models Despite Same Object Styles
Revit Forum
by ayyeffdee

Hello, I am hoping for an answer as to how to fix the discrepancy between Families not matching the models object styles, graphically, once loaded into the project. In the family, I transfered the linestyles, lineweights, and object styles from the base projects standards, so they should be the same. I have compared the object styles and line styles between family and model and they appear to be the same, and it is not a matter of the family having been overridden by element or lineweight tool. When I bring the family into the model, they do not look the same. For instance, a dashed line in ..read more

How to truss (array?) on bottom of roof perpendicular to roof slope
Revit Forum

I've been trying to get my truss to host (not attach/shape change) to the bottom of a roof (see pics) In section, ideally, they'd be perpendicular to the slope, but I could tolerate them being vertical but all below the roof. a separate question, my truss when placing them and picking plane (bottom of roof) seem to be attaching with the bottom cord on the top plane of the roof. is there a way to make the top of the top cord default to the bottom of the roof ..read more
