Filters to control only certain wall sweeps
Reddit - Revit

I just recently found out that Filters can now control wall sweeps, including those in the wall type. So to hide baseboards in the wall type in my plan views, I can set a filter controlling the wall sweep, using the Length parameter and setting it to "Has A Value", or, greater than 0'-0". But then that ends up controlling ALL the sweeps in the view, including my exterior brick wainscot sweeps. So if I add the filter and turn off visibility, all sweeps are gone. I need to turn off just the baseboards. So I tried using the Material parameter, and setting it to the material of the baseboards. Bu ..read more

Tracking Two Different Revision Threads

We have addendums for permit and for bid happening at the same time, but we don't want them to show up in each other's revision blocks. Right now I can "hide-in-view" the relevant clouds, and that revision is removed from the schedule, but this will obviously get more and more cumbersome as we go. We've also discussed splitting the model but I really hope we don't have to. Ideally there's a way to filter the title block's revision schedule. I've used custom alpha-numeric to keep the numbering for the two sets separated, but I need the not-being-printed revision to not show up in the revision ..read more

Exporting curved walls with hatch patterns

I have designed a building which is being 3D printed / CNC'd for placement in a large master site model plan. This building has curved walls, and after much pain I applied the necessary hatch patterns to said walls. The hatch pattern is essentially where the CNC machine will score the wall to give the impression of mullions. See picture here Every time I export this file in 3D, to any format, the hatch patterns disappear and I'm left with a blank building (second image). The horizontal lines which did export are where I made parts out of the walls. The hatch pattern, as you can see, disappear ..read more

Can I create windows shortcuts that auto execute Python scripts?

Hi, I’m working on a huge hospital project in Revit and I’m trying to find ways to speed up the project. Since this model is so huge it takes half an hour to load every day. Is it possible to create windows shortcuts with arguments that will automatically launch Python scripts? I was hoping to make one that would execute a script to load a project up. We could have a different shortcut per project and those shortcuts could be executed by windows task scheduler before people get to work. submitted by /u/SwagarTheHorrible [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Our company is just getting started on implementing Revit, we are an old set in our ways type company that has been around for a long long time. Anyways. I'm newish there but with a lot of Revit experience from my previous work, but never have I set up Revit for a whole department, knowing I will affect everyone's workflow with how we implement this stuff. My group is the mechanical engineering group. So the meat of my question - our facilities have different numbers assigned to them. One of them is a "structure number", and it is not just to do with a building, but it's to do with the purpos ..read more
