How to send linked CAD file to background?

Hi all. I am relatively new to Revit and i have been working on this file where i have linked the survey CAD file to the revit file. I have my model built already and i want to keep the survey to show the surrounding context from the survey. The visual style is set to hidden but some of the survey info is still showing through the floor slab (which i dont want). Is there a way i can send the linked CAD file to the back of the floor slabs? submitted by /u/Dan123124107 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

In BIM360 how do create clouded annotations calling out applicable RFIs on a certain sheet. I’ve seen it where it looks like a typical cloud call out. When you hover over it it shows a link to the RFI number and description. submitted by /u/TheAlchemist222 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How do you model vertical metal cladding in revit? (For rendering purposes

I've been struggling with this one. I followed some tutorials and did the curtain wall route, however when I go to edit profile so the doors and windows show through I get an error that ruins the whole wall. I even tried doing this based on the grid line on the curtain wall. https://imgur.com/a/Wx6zI3F submitted by /u/Rift-harold [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Legend Component Rant

Today I am just angry that Autodesk won't allow me to link a Legend Component to a Type Name or a Description Parameter, etc. What's the point of having metadata if I'm still forced to use text in Legend Components? I've seen so many mistakes in Sheets because of this. Anyone found a workaround? submitted by /u/PanditasInc [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Transferring settings to a new computer

I’ve been using a student version of revit 2022. Got a new computer and basically just downloaded 2023. I have all my old files from my old computer but what about all my settings I made in revit 2022? How do I transfer all that? I’m assuming importing all the families is straightforward in the same way I did it before, but I don’t want to have to mess around with all the settings I made prior. Anyway to get Revit for cheaper?

I just started to use Revit at my university’s lab (for free) and I want to use it to make a portfolio to apply to graduate school for architecture in a few years. However the price is super steep and I won’t be able to use my university’s lab after I graduate… so are there any other options in terms of price? What can I do? submitted by /u/Albatrossinmydreams [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Adding Windows to Generic Model
Reddit - Revit

I made a generic site model with extrusions only, and placed it in my project. The generic model represents the surrounding buildings. I just realized I can’t add windows to the extrusions because they’re not walls. I want the surrounding buildings to have more detail. How do I solve this without deleting everything? submitted by /u/Maximum_Storage4515 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
