I used to love swimming. I mean really love swimming – my parents used to tell me I was part fish. As a kid you couldn’t get me out of a pool/lake/bathtub without a struggle. As I got older though, and my fear of germs grew worse and worse, it was a struggle to get me into any water that wasn’t coming out of a shower. A quick eulogy to start the blog for my mother-in-law, Norma, who passed away at 88 last week. I used to call her the ‘hick from the sticks’ – she was born and raised in Tama, Iowa, and the first day she had her driver’s license she hit a cow. You can’t make that stuff up. I met my wife at the University of Kansas in 1984 and met Norma a year later when Lana’s dad passed away. In that 39 years I knew her she was like a 2nd mom to me, and only once in that 39 years did I get mad at her. She was in town visiting and bought some shelves for me to put together for our basement. I had just co ..read more

Buying a home is one of the most significant financial decisions you’ll ever make, yet it’s surrounded by myths that can mislead potential buyers. At A and N, we believe in empowering you with accurate information. Let’s debunk some common homebuying myths! Myth 1: You Need a 20% Down Payment Reality: While a 20% down payment can help you avoid private mortgage insurance (PMI) and secure better loan terms, it’s not a strict requirement.
