The fashion industry has famously been very nit-picky about bodies and their types. It is often considered, as unconscious bias or even conscious and upfront at times, that people that are heavier are lazier and therefore not good at their jobs or certain things in general.
The fashion industry’s bias also reflects in the designs of clothes it makes and the sizes it produces, both for shows and mass production. For very long, very few designs were available for plus sized women, and even when they were, weren’t tailored as well or designed as well as the smaller sizes.

If you experience bloating before or during your period, you’re not alone. Many people who menstruate report that their stomachs tend to feel heavy or enlarged a day or two before they start their periods, or through the first 1-2 days of menstruation. Most research suggests that bloating is caused by changing levels of the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which are naturally higher during your period. Rising hormone levels make the body retain water and salt, and this increased water retention in turn causes bloating.
Bloating is often just one of many symptoms that can make your mo ..read more

Enjoy a Brewery Day Trip in Seattle
Seattle, and the whole Pacific NorthWest, has always been at the vanguard of the craft beer revolution. Some of the first artisanal breweries were launched here, and it has always been the home of the best, most interesting brewing efforts that the modern beer scene in the US has to offer.
These days, it feels like there is a world-beating brewery or taproom around every corner in Seattle. While more choice is always awesome, it can be hard for anyone trying to taste the best beer the city has to offer to choose between the variety of hoppy offerings on sho ..read more

With COVID-19 vaccinations now rolling out at a fairly rapid pace, just about everyone is counting down the days when everything returns back to “normal.” We’ll still need to take precautions for the foreseeable future of course, and it will take time for enough Americans to be vaccinated for normal to truly be within reach. But recent updates from the government provide reason for optimism. As was summed up at The Hill recently, there’s been a new call for all adults to be eligible for the vaccine no later than May 1 — and there’s a stated goal for a “more normal” Fourth ..read more

I’m rolling out a passion project that I’ve wanted to do for my audience. We will call it #GarnerSTYLED — I took four women of various sizes and body types and styled them. Erin is the first to be featured. I loved her willingness and positivity in doing something she’s never done before in terms of letting me dress her and being in a IG reel. I hope I did her justice. This is my first stab at such a project and I’m excited to build on it. All ladies involved got to keep their clothes and shoes (generously gifted by @naturalizer). Reel format is on my Instagram.

The world is filled with body-positive role models that inspire plus-sized women to feel good about who they are. Hilary Duff, Demi Lovato and Serena Williams all lead the way in reinforcing body positivity, promoting the message that perfection is imperfection, and real-life is not meant to be like the airbrushed cover of a glossy magazine. It is ok to be different, we come in all shapes and sizes and seeing popular celebrities being who they are, allows us to be who we are, without fear of shame. That is the message we promote here on our site and one that should be commonplace a ..read more
