What an un-fore-gettable day! Thank you to all of our golfers, volunteers, and sponsors for making our inaugural Connor’s Golf Classic a truly spectacular event.
We are still tallying the funds, but so far we are looking at over $80,000 raised for young people with brain cancer. What an awesome effort!

The Robert Connor Dawes Foundation are proud to announce that we are co-funding South Australia’s first biobank.
Dubbed ‘Brain Turbo SA’, the biobank is being spearheaded by renowned brain cancer specialist and McClurg Brain Cancer Fellow at South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), Professor Jordan Hansford and is being used to study child brain tumours into the future.
“We’re going to learn about survivorship, we’re going to learn about diseases and we’re going to learn how to continually improve patient care,” Prof Hansford said.

16 year old Adam is the first patient in the world to trial a new brain cancer treatment. This world-first cancer treatment trial, tackling a rare and debilitating paediatric brain tumour commenced at the Perth Children’s Hospital. Adam will be joined by more than 30 other children across the world to trial a treatment for Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma (ACP) over the next two years.

We enjoyed Community Day at Sandringham Little Athletics on Saturday. It was great to have our major partner Coles and their ambassador, 2 x World Champion and Olympic Bronze medalist, Kelsey-Lee Barber there alongside us. We raised over $3000. Thank you to our awesome group of volunteers from Firbank Grammar for helping us out on the day.

We had the great honour of accepting a massive $419,431 cheque from Coles, raised last month during the BrainHeart Campaign.
The campaign ran in all 220 Victorian Coles stores, and online from August 31-September 20, 2022.
Through the sale of Sock it to Brain Cancer socks, $2 BrainHeart cards, and select Coles cookies, the funds were raised thanks to the support of dedicated staff, and big-hearted shoppers.
Coles Local Victorian stores also sold speciality Cremorne Bakery cookies and T.House products, along with the cards and socks.

September 26 is Brain Cancer Awareness Day. This year the focus is on high grade glioma (HGG).
High-grade gliomas (HGGs) are the most malignant type of CNS tumours that occur in children.
They are tumours of the glial cells, cells found in the brain and spinal cord.
They are fast-growing and they spread quickly through brain tissue, which makes them hard to treat.
While current treatment involves a multimodal approach, combining radiation and chemotherapy, the 5-year survival rate is <20%, underscoring an urgent need for novel therapies.

Monday, 26 September is the fourth annual Childhood Brain Cancer Awareness Day. Each year a different tumour type is highlighted, this year is high grade glioma (HGG).
Our beautiful Legacy Ambassador Zoe Stanley tragically passed away from a glioblastoma multiforme tumour, a type of HGG.
In March 2017, 5-year-old Zoe Stanley was diagnosed with a rare and incurable giant cell glioblastoma multiforme tumour. Zoe was a joyful, artistic, and brave little girl who loved everything unicorns, butterflies, and rainbows.
