There’s a new Japanese restaurant in Barcelona, and trust me when I say that this one will be much talked about. The kitchen at Scapar is run by the renowned Kouichi Kuwabara (well known from Dos Palillos), who is now spearheading this beautiful restaurant that can better be defined as an experience. Scapar, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience. This sensescape restaurant offers a multi-sensory journey of 16 courses, with an optional drinks pairing. The creations are Japanese, with a slight fusion nod to Spanish gastronomy. But those of us who shy away from the word "fusion" have n ..read more

Origo Bakery has been a success since it opened its doors in 2018, with friends of excellent sourdough and wonderful cinnamon rolls pilgrimaging to their spot in Gràcia (read my review here). And now the owner François de Halleux has, to the delight of all Origo fans, opened a new location in Sant Antoni. Origo Bakery in Sant Antoni and owner François de Halleux. EATING IN SANT ANTONI: Sant Antoni is a delightful neighborhood with a great vibe and numerous spots to go out for lunch, dinner and drinks, and shopping, too. Ultramarinos Marin is what you'd be looking for when you want a great experience AND very, very good food. This fairly new spot feels like it has been in Barcelona forever; it has that vibe of knowing what they’re doing. And they truly do. Ultramarinos Marin, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience. Ultramarinos Marin is divided into two spaces: a bar with so much atmosphere that you just might think you’re on a movie set. If you venture to the back, a completely different kind of restaurant opens up, where dark wood and a cozy, low-key ambiance prevails. Ultramarinos Marin, Barcelona ..read more

Suto, located in Sants, is a Japanese restaurant that has recently been awarded its first Michelin star, a well-deserved accolade. With only six seats arranged around the bar where Chef Yoshi Suto works his magic, diners are treated to a stunning omakase-style dining experience featuring seasonal ingredients. Chef Suto has spent 20 years in Spain, and in 2019 he converted an old bar into what the Suto restaurant is now. Suto, Barcelona. Photo © Barcelona Food Experience. Suto, Barcelona.
