New Product! DW25 Pellet Dryer
Filabot
by Josh Allen
1M ago
New from Filabot, the DW25 Pellet Dryer is a desiccant wheel pellet dryer that pairs perfectly with our Filabot EX2 and Filabot EX6 extruders. Traditional dehumidifying dryers use a large volume of molecular sieves in pellet form composed of at least 30% clay, which tends to degrade very easily over time. The desiccant wheel instead is completely different where the pure molecular sieve is applied to a synthetic substrate, rolled into a cylinder forming a honeycomb structure, and covered by a steel protection. Limestone Printing Material Really Rocks
Filabot
by Josh Allen
1y ago
As unlikely as it may seem, there is finally a material that not only has improved stability but actually helps absorb CO2 from the environment, called the ecoPLAS 3D201 from REearthable. ecoPLAS is a manufacturing-ready biodegradable and compostable limestone (CaCO3) compound with PLA LX175 base that conforms to the FDA food contact safe (G.R.A.S.) specification (and many others) and is suitable for 3D Printing and Injection Molding. Limestone, which is primarily calcite (CacO3) sequesters CO2 during formation and doesn’t release it unless heated above 1500˚ F.  ..read more

Spools ..Now Made of Metal!
Filabot
by Josh Allen

Built to fit on a standard spooler, the Filabot metal spool is for those that need the ability to use high temperatures for drying of complete spools. This metal spool is made from laser-cut aluminum and mounts just like a standard Filabot plastic spool and is also compatible with the Filabot Spooler. This spool was designed with high-temperature, high-performance plastics like Ultem (Melting Point of 370˚ C) and PEEK (Melting Point of 343 °C) in mind. The higher drying temperature required by these types of materials, would likely damage standard plastic spools. A metal spool will retain ..read more

A Cool New Solution to Spooling
Filabot
by Tyler McNaney
1y ago
Creating uniform spools of filament for 3D printing ensures a steady supply of ready inventory.  One of the key elements to a uniform filament is what happens to the temperature profile as the filament exits the extruder and before it starts to wind up on the spool.  We’re talking about the temperature profile during the journey from tip to reel. Filaments start to cool pretty quickly as they exit the extruder, but sometimes, especially for larger diameter filaments or those that require a high extrusion temperature extra cooling stabilizes the geometry for a more uniform wind.  ..read more

It’s that time of year again, 2022 is coming to an end and we are looking forward to 2023. This year was packed with all sorts of new things. New projects, opportunities, products, and great fun! Overall COVID was less of an issue this year compared to 2020 and 2021. While still something to navigate through, there was a general sense of relief in the wake of this pandemic from and people were feeling more connected.  In 2022 our team focused heavily on bringing large format printing solutions to our customers. Our robotic program at Massive Dimension revolved around connecting the softwa ..read more

Massive Dimension Upgrade Program
Filabot
by Aaron Malys

Are you an MDPH2 user feeling the itch of upgraditis? Maybe you were an early Massive Dimension supporter back in 2019, getting in the pellet extruder game while the MDPE10 was still just a twinkle in the engineers’ eyes. Or perhaps you bought an MDPH2 only six months ago, thinking the output increase over your filament extruder would sate your appetite for bigger and faster prints- but your thirst for seeing those time estimates in Cura drop can no longer be quenched by two pounds an hour! We don’t want you to lose sleep from your yearnings, and as always, Massive Dimension has a solution fo ..read more
