Ruby Hotels has confirmed it will launch its first hotel in Rome in 2025, continuing its expansion across Italy following its 2024 opening in Florence.  Located near the capital’s Spanish Steps, the 165-room property will occupy a former office building with a historic exterior. Aparthotel brand Locke is set to open its third German property, Locke at East Side Gallery, in June 2023. With views overlooking the River Spree, the new opening will comprise 176 studio apartments, each equipped with kitchenettes and living areas, and many with a private balcony. Volumetric Building Companies (VBC) has been awarded a contract of over £10 million for the offsite construction of a 500-bed hotel for Berlin-based Tropical Islands, one of the world’s largest waterparks. Worldwide leisure park operator Parques Reunidos is investing £22 million in the new hotel – due to open in early 2024 – which is set to be the largest on the Tropical Islands site.
