Hey guys, I'm a machinist (but basically just a glorified machine operator at this point) and I'm looking to get into programming. My company will pay for me to go to school and give me a programming position if i can prove i'm familiar with the software and G and M code, so really im just looking for a place to start. For some added context, i run Mazak lathes, and programming for that would be the main thing they're lookin for.
Im sorry if there's information im leaving out in this, i dont post often. Just lmk if you have had a similar experience and have some tips and pointers, or even if ..read more

Hi I have bought a CNC 3018 pro form mostics and I hasn't given me anything else than headaches. For context, I'm studying electronics engineering and i bought the machine with the hope of making PCBs a lot quicker and more reliable than before, but it's been a problem after the other. At the beginning there were a couple issues that came from the "cheap" part of the CNC which I have already solved. Now here's the main problem: the height does whatever crosses it's will; for example it cuts everything at the desired height following the height map as it should for the exemption of some random ..read more

Hi, I am looking for any recommendations for a sturdy desktop sized CNC. I manufacture foot orthotics (arch supports) out of 40mm thick polypropylene, and am currently using a Roland MDX540. The Roland is great, but lacks a bit of grunt to cut with anything more than very small stepdowns. I am after something with cutting area around 600mmx600mm or therabouts with a bit of oomph to cut the hard material. Does anyone have any recommendations on what might be a suitable machine? Im located in Australia also. Thankyou

In my home shop I have a Sillouethe Cameo plotter, a CO2 laser engraver, a CNC spindle router and a small 3D printer.
While I am sure all these 4 gadgets can be considered CNC machines, I'd like to know opinions if an ordinary inkjet printer can be considered a CNC machine as well. Deep inside I believe they are, but I wanna hear what you have to say.
Thanks in advance.
