I don't have a picture of it right now, but it was on my mind and I didn't find anything after Googling.
Recently bought a plastic container of shrimp paste, and after removing the lid along with the aluminum seal, it had a top, hard white layer that was over the shrimp paste. To me, it didn't seem like it was oil/fat bc it would've been easier to just press through with a spoon. The entire layer was solid, and I lifted it up slightly to get some shrimp paste then pressed it back down to cover the shrimp paste.
