Pampas grass was the main focal “flower” for a recent wedding at The Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Virtual Planning Works We had never met the couple in person. All of the planning was done virtually, but the bride and groom were super happy with our work that day! We use a software program called “Details Software” that is wonderful for planning with clients who live close by but also remote. For this couple, Casey met with them on the phone and then sent detailed updates through the software. It was flawless. The bride chose to make her bridesmaids bouquets and bouton ..read more

Rose Parade Blooms Again I’ve been writing for The Bloomin’ News, LA’s own floral trade magazine, for about 10 years. This past issue was a great process because I really got to know the people behind the scenes of the world famous and historic Tournament of Roses Parade. I interviewed the top float builders and the top provider of flowers for the parade to put in hours of interviews into one article that talked about how great it was to have the parade back after is was cancelled due to Covid for 2021. For those of you who don’t know much about the parade, here is a quick synopsis. First hel ..read more

I am renaming our book recommendation this week to a Succulent Book Review! I can never have enough books about succuentls. We are suckers for succulents and when I was at my local library last week, I picked up this great book about succulents, “Succulents for Beginners.” The funny thing was, when I brought it home and my 11-year-old daughter looked at it, she said, “Mommy, why do you have a beginner’s book? You are an expert.” While I enjoyed the compliment, I know that  you can never stop learning about anything. Succulents are a passion and I love a well-researched and presented boo ..read more

Flower Duet’s Charitable Giving Each year we are asked to sponsor a multitude of events through flowers. One of our favorite charitable giving projects is to help our local schools and school districts to raise money for children’s programs and supporting young adults. This annual school fundraiser for the school where my twins attended was for the PTA to help fund projects like art in the classroom, garden lessons, classroom supplies, chromebooks and other technology, books and more. During last year’s PTA fundraiser (Flower Duet provided the flowers at a significant discount), the school rai ..read more

Free Online Flower Class We are sad to hear about the passing of Her Majesty, The Queen Elizabeth II. In honor of her passing, we created an online flower class course that teaches you how to make a floral design based on a photo take of QE2 in her palace by the famed American photographer, Annie Leibovitz. What thought we’d find out what the Queen’s favorite flowers were and believe it or not, she never revealed it. However, it is believed that while she loved all the flowers in all of her palace and castle gardens, her favorite flowers were Carnations! She had them at her wedding reception ..read more
