Just a little recap for my gourmet followers, some of my favorite restaurants around the world!
Yam’Tcha: Drinking Chinese Tea And Eating Dim Sum. – Paris
After my son’s ardent recommendations, I started watching Netflix’s Chef’s Table, the documentary show created by David Gelb (Jiro Dreams of Sushi). He invites us in the kitchen of well-known chefs all over the world, and each episode is about their incredible path to success! The first one I watched was on Michel Troisgros, the three Michelin star chef, at his restaurant in Roanne-France, and since then I have to say I’m completely hooked ..read more

Nobu Tokyo is part of the Nobu group owned by chef Nobu Matsuhisa. The Nobu group has 32 restaurants in 28 different cities around the world, across five continents.
After living a few years in South America and Alaska, Nobu Matsuhisa opened his first restaurant in Beverly Hills, Matsuhisa, in January 1987. It was an immediate hit. This is where he met his longtime friend and business partner, Robert de Niro. In 1994 they opened their first Nobu together in New York City.
I did not see Robert de Niro when I went to Nobu Tokyo but I certainly had a great time and a very good dinner with my fr ..read more

What a fabulous culinary journey I had with Chef Daisuke Kaneko at L’AS!
Chef Daisuke Kaneko, a young chef full of talent and ambition, opened this restaurant in 2012. He uses Japanese ingredients to explore French cuisine.
In 2014, he won the “GOLD EGG” award for RED-U-35, a top culinary competition in Japan.
L’As is located in a very calm, narrow street of Tokyo just behind The Cork, also owned by Chef Daisuke Kaneko. The entrance is very contemporary, as is the design of the restaurant. I was very impressed by the modern, open kitchen at the entrance where a team buzzes around under the w ..read more

Wow, this place is just WOW! You’ve probably heard many people saying “This is the best sushi restaurant in Tokyo” and they are right. There are many “best” sushi places in Tokyo and Matsukan is for sure one of them.
Matsukan, a small restaurant in Azabujuban, is a gem, and I’m very thankful to my friend Jennifer for taking me there during my last trip to Tokyo. You can’t see the inside of the street, as is often the case in Japan. There are no windows, only a wooden sliding door and a tōrō (granite lantern) on the sidewalk. Only 15 people can sit at the counter at once, and there is a table ..read more

I landed at Haneda airport on April 1st at 6:20 pm and I was at Nanbantei at 8:30 pm to have my first dinner in Tokyo! My first for this trip of course! Nanbantei is my favorite place for yakitori. It used to be our family restaurant when living in Tokyo from 2009 to 2012.
Yakitori is a Japanese type of skewered chicken. The term kushiyaki is also used for skewered and grilled meat or vegetables. They are grilled over a charcoal fire. During or after cooking, the meat is typically seasoned with tare sauce or salt.
At Nanbantei the atmosphere is very warm and the servers are very friendly ..read more

A perfect place for Shabu-shabu and sushi! You can choose an all-you-can-eat for ¥ 8000 ($65 or 60€) or an a-la-carte menu. Hassan is a 2-min walk from Roppongi station (Exit 1a or 3) and is located beneath a bookstore. My friend Kana found this restaurant and took me during my last trip to Japan.
In Tokyo, the location doesn’t make a restaurant better or busier. Any place a human being can open a restaurant, on any floor of a building a Tokioite will do it. So don’t be afraid if a restaurant is located in the basement, the 6th floor of a tiny building, in a lost street, or in a subway sta ..read more
