A new government mortgage scheme is now in place that will help first time buyers get on the property ladder with just a 5% deposit. James Laurence are pleased to see the initiative introduced by the chancellor Rishi Sunak to stamp duty thresholds. The “holiday” announced, means that buyers completing on their new home prior to March 31st, 2021 up to the value of £500,000 will now pay £0 in SDLT. In line with the latest government relaxations and guidance for estate agents, we can confirm the property market is able to re-open. Agents are now able to enter properties for preparing the property, including appraisals and take photos, and customers are allowed to view properties for sale and to let.
