Welcome to your adventure in Italy that you are going to do in the future perhaps next year or the year after. I have been reading a lot lately about how to make the most of life and how to create it and make it happen. Mid life we all need to stop and take a pause. The only good thing to come out of Covid was that the world paused. It gave us a lot of time to breathe and think and assess our lives and relationships. I am sure a lot of people thought about how one wishes to spend the rest of your life. What is stopping you from travelling other than the price? Is it fear of flying? Or is it j ..read more

Passion For Italy Podcast #18 Connect with the Locals
Passion For Italy Travel -Travel Agency for Italy

I read about a young man who had learnt six different languages, so he can easily travel and meet and talk to the locals. He said he has made his life so much more interesting. Travelling really is about the people, the language, the food and yes of course, beautiful places and beautiful scenery. But what use is this if the people are grumpy there and make you feel bad too. Or if you are grumpy…..! One always remembers a place for the wonderful service, the fantastic food or the endearing things that people do. Maybe it also has something to do with your mood – if you are exhausted, feeling lo ..read more

Amalfi Coast New Rules for Car Entry 2022
Passion For Italy Travel -Travel Agency for Italy
by Gemma Green Close

The Amalfi Coast Towns have had to impose new traffic rules due to the large number of tourists flooding the regions. The two single lane road, which was once a donkey track perched high on the cliffs hanging over into the sea is just not large enough to cope with the traffic, resulting in long queues in the summer. The new rules will apply to the 35 km road between Vietri sul Mare and Positano. During peak hours in peak season, drivers will have to obey a new alternate number plate system. If your car’s number plate ends in an odd number, you will be able to access the road on odd n ..read more

The Ancient Magic Square. The church of San Pietro ad Oratorium is in the municipality of Capestrano about 40 km from L’Aquila. Left of the main portal there is a stone, a relic of the ancient 9th-century construction, inserted into the walls upside down. It contains the so called ancient magical square, formed by five words of five letters each that can be read from left to right, from right to left, from top to bottom and from the bottom to top.  The five words “rotas – opera – tenet – arepo – sator” that mean “everywhere-operates-holds-plow-sower”, have been variously interpreted, and ..read more

Today we are talking about the Italian language. Its beauty, its history beginning with Dante Alighieri, and how we can use this time when many of us cannot travel to Italy, to be able to assimilate once we land in Il Bel Paese. We all tend to equate Italy with antiquity, and with such vast history it is easy to assume Italy as a country is quite ancient itself. So, a lot of people are surprised to learn that Italy, a unified Italy as we know it today was only established in 1865. The same year our Civil War here in the states came to and end. So, what about the language?  Well, we owe mo ..read more
