Deadpool aside, I’m trying to find some comics that have great humor in them. I’ve been reading a lot of stuff like Spiderman Rain, immortal hulk and just love them. But I need some good laughs to help for a bit. submitted by /u/Beaker1976 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Questions for anyone who owns or manages a Comic Book Store.

Hi I have homework and and hoping someone sees this and can help me. I have ten questions if you can answer them as a manager or owner of a comic book store that'd be great, thank you. What attracted you to this Career Path? What are the major components of your job on a daily basis? How would you describe someone who would excel in this career? (Included for Sales Associates as well and management.) What do you enjoy most about the job? What do you enjoy least about your job? How do you see this job changing in the next ten years? If you could go back and do anything differently ..read more

Do you have an Announced Comic Book Series You were Looking Forward to that Ended up Getting canceled prior to Release?

For example, I was really looking forward to the Chelsea Cain and Aud Koch Vision series that was set to come out a few years ago, but it ended up getting canceled only a few months before it was released. It is still not clear why that happened. Has that happened to you? Perhaps a book that was advertised in Diamond back in the day that ended up never actually being made? Curious to hear what people have to say? submitted by /u/MOVIEREVOLT [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Favorite Comics That Do Something Different with the Medium?

The majority of comics are relatively standard. Reading left to right (or reverse, with manga), paneled work on each page, etc. But sometimes, you get a comic that plays with the medium and does something different. Maybe a silent issue, with no dialogue. Or changing the panel structure to thematically tie in with the story. Or it'll play with the format entirely. Silver Surfer #11, by Dan Slott & Michael Allred, for example, reads like a literal moebius strip. Or a webcomic where you scroll down to continue reading (spoilers for Order of the Stick). Chris Ware often plays with the medium ..read more

French/European recommendations

I've been getting into the stuff from Heavy Metal, Humanoids and whatever Titan localizes over, etc. That good old high art, mized media, magazine size, trippy colored, concious expanding sci fi stuff. Looking for anything that's flown under my radar. Doesn't matter the language, nor am I limiting this to just Europe. Bonus points if its indie/self published stuff, just include a link. I've read: Incal Metabarons Blacksad Requiem Rebel Nikopol Trilogy Tin tin etc. What am I missing? submitted by /u/MikeDanger1990 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are there any "non-fan" creators left at Marvel or DC?

In light of her recent passing, I've been going through the book "The Art of Ramona Fradon," which features a career-spanning interview with Ms. Fradon conducted by Howard Chaykin. Two things in this book prompted my question: Ms. Fradon notes that, while she is happy to have provided entertainment to people, she herself was not a particular fan of the material. It is noted that E Nelson Bridwell was one of the first fans to work the comic industry. So, here in 2024, is anyone working at or for these companies not a particular superhero comic fan just trying to make a living? submitted by ..read more

How to read Transformers MTMTE and Lost Light?

After seeing the trailer for the new Transformers movie, it made me want to try getting into transformers. I see a lot of people recommend MTMTE and Lost Light, but they’re trades seem to be pretty pricey due to being out of print. Also, it seems they aren’t on Comixology unless I’m missing something. So how does one read these? Also, if there are any other recommendations, I’m up for that as well. All I know from Transformers is from the Bay movies sadly. I’ve seen that there’s a new series by DWJ, but are those good for getting up to speed on transformers lore? Thanks in advance! submitted ..read more
