Unique problem. I own an animal hospital, and we have a room with a giant window where we keep foster cats. Since it is closed off and doesn't have its own thermostat, there can be pretty big temperature swings. We currently have an outdoor door on it for entry, with 9 window panels (will try to post example photo). I'd like to remove the glass and swap it out for screen or bars (something we can still clean and won't get torn up if a cat jumps on it). This way, the HVAC from the rest of the building will better circulate into that room. Ideas? Pics if you have them, please!

We just moved into this place, and removed carpet to put in laminate flooring.
Obviously, even though he was a friend of the family, buddy literally did the laziest job humanly possible. This is only one of the issues he left us.
Since he already drilled into the laminate, it would be nice to keep the existing spindles and just fix this somehow, although full new set has crossed our minds.
What would you do in this situation??
Also please ignore the hideous paint job and bits of old carpet stuck in the paint, that was from the "refresh" the ol ..read more

I have efflorescence on my garage floor that has gotten significantly worse the last 2 years (along with record rainfalls in my area). It’s almost entirely along the walls and particularly bad in the back corner. The garage is surrounded by concrete on the outside. On one side there’s a 3 foot wide walkway and then a small yard. The yard has definitely struggled with the increased rain - not draining fully and lots of muddy areas after the rain. All this to say the record rains have brought to light drainage issues. Any ideas on what type of contractor I need to call? I tried a foundation rep ..read more

I'm looking to buy a house but I just learned that the drain from the garage goes to the sceptic tank. I don't think this is legit. But is it a serious thing? The sceptic tank is a cement tank with a sand filter ( from what I saw from the city registry). The installation is from 2007. It is not a bionest type...
Do you think this is a show stopper or no big deal?

Buying a house and planning on opening a door way wider and adding a half wall, but i took some measurements while in the house and noticed to wall is 5.25 thick. The house is from 1955, looking at the house im currently living in there is a opening i measured and the wall is 5inchs thick. What is the framework like to get these very thick interior walls?

We are finishing our basement and I want some trim around the bottom of the support poles so there isn’t a weird flooring gap where crumbs go to die. We do not want to wrap the whole pole, but I can’t seem to find skirts for this size poles at all. Any ideas?

My parents live in Naples Florida and they had a service come out to fix their garage door. It was determined that the door needed two springs and two drums. They are in their late 70’s, but that is no excuse for my dad not realizing something was amiss when he got the bill. He is book smart, but has zero mechanical knowledge about ANYTHING! He takes his car in to have the oil topped off. It’s pathetic.
Long story short…he PAID the guy with a credit card, and later looked up what the cost should be. He was clearly taken advantage of. After realizing he screwed up he stopped payment, but becau ..read more

New home owner and the toilet paper holder fell out. There are two green holes in the wall where the holder wasn’t connected to. Is there something I can do? Thanks!

I have a Zircon Stud finder. While scanning the wall for studs, I am only getting two bars for my signal strength even when I do a deep scan. Do you think its still safe to mount my TV on that wall?
