ive been offered an interview for a trainee drillers off sider in australia just wondering what is the general expected pay for a (No experience) required off siders trainee? the company would not say what the pay rate may be and did not give an idea of what the roster type was and said that information is only disclosed if im sucessful. I'd like to get away from my current job but i am not mega desperate and i've got at least two other areas of employment interest im looking at so just trying to figure out what the pay may be like. submitted by /u/Skydome12 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Females/Indigenous

G'day all. With so many positions only asking for females or indigenous, if you are a white male you have no chance. Has anyone ever just ticked the indigenous box? How much effort would the employer go to, to investigate if you really are indigenous? submitted by /u/AusCounter [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi guys! Recently picked up 'material world' by Conway and really looking forward to reading it. What books would you recommend to learn about the mining industry? I work in consulting so especially interested in the commercial side of things. Thank you submitted by /u/simonthepieman69 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi all, I found this GPKG file of many of earth's know mines: Open database on global coal and metal mine production. However, I can't find a file that would show the geospatial data of their mines and their outputs together. In the body of files you can get there is a breakdown of what "Facility" mines what, but I can't find one of the geospatial data and the resources together. I want to make a google earth KML file where the facilities are marked/organised by what they actually produce. Hopefully someone can help! submitted by /u/OriginalSlip3058 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Been on graders, little IVECO water trucks. I have a Manual P2 license, forklift ticket and a whitecard. Im most interested in Loaders, Moxy/Dump trucks, Water trucks and Dozers. Where should i start? What sites shoul ..read more

I've got no experience at all in the mining industry but looking to get into it as a change in employment would be pretty refreshing... I'm a sheep shearer in the Central west nsw, so hard days work is something accustomed too... work hard, reliable, fit and strong.... would there be many positions available to me with someone who hasn't had any experience in the industry? submitted by /u/matty171090 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I was a highschool dropout and began doing construction at a young age, but now I am wanting to get into underground mining. I am from BC Canada. Would me not having a diploma affect my eligibility getting my common core? submitted by /u/StandInitial8563 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
