I’m bathtub shopping, and I’m finding that some tubs (the Kohler Archer model, for example) have internal shaping that looks weird and pointless to me: a sort of shallow shelf or lip partway up the inside. Can anyone explain what the point of that is? It just looks to me as if it would make it harder to clean.

Hey all, new to this sub. Not new to renovating however I’ve only ever done two bathrooms before.
We bought our house sight unseen (had to) and the pictures of the bathroom looked fine. The pictures lied. The plastic panels around the tub are loosely affixed and allow water to seep under (probably causing mold). The window is awful, has a mountain of paint over it(presumably providing the ‘water resistance’) and is falling apart.
The bathroom is small but I’m looking for some cost effective, good looking, time economic (it’s the only bathroom in the house) ideas to help me un-*uck this th ..read more

Can anyone recommend a very premium bathroom fitter? I have had a hideous time with some real cowboys and can’t face risking any more stress - the sort of fitter that a lower-level royal, experienced KC or specialist anaesthesiologist might use. Ideally they’d be well established and their reputation easily verified online
I’m in Guildford in Surrey, and know nothing about bathrooms per se. The cowboys were found by adjudication to be liable for paying for remedial works, so price is no obstacle.

Hey all, wanted to ask everyone for advice on painting walls in the bathroom (using bathroom appropriate paint) half way point, rest with tiles. Or tile the whole bathroom? Wanting to avoid issues in the future but also contemplating cutting costs. Thanks in advance.

My house was built in the 60s and both bathrooms have tiled walls, in one bathroom the previous owners painted the tiles white. They are a light grey and in great shape. How do I remove the paint without damaging the tiles.

Hey all,
So my shower was leaking when the water was turned off, I replaced the cartridges but now there's two problems:
It's a three handle shower, hot, diverter and cold. The cold handle is supposed to point out to the right and rotate down to turn on the water, but with the new cartridge in it's rotating up to turn on instead of down. It's cosmetic, but I'd rather not leave a janky fix. Any suggestions? Am I just being a noob here?
This is the problem from the title. The diverter stem in the middle has seen better days, but I couldn't find it at any of my 3 hardware stores or even onli ..read more
