Almost all babies experience breathing through the mouth at least once in their lives. This is due to airway blockage caused by both mild and severe medical conditions. The most prevalent reason is the common cold, which is why sometimes you see them sleeping with their mouths open. While mouth breathing is necessary when nasal breathing is difficult, you should not allow your baby to do so for a prolonged period, as it may result in adverse effects in the future.  Here are some of them. What To Do When Babies Don’t Understand No
Well Being Kid Blog

If you ask Google, “When do babies understand no?”, it’ll show you several articles discussing it. I did it too, and I came to the conclusion that it can be as early as six months. However, the average age range is 8 to 12 months, says BabyCenter. It’s when they will pause before doing something you told them not to do, and look at you first. If you’re showing disapproval, they may shake their heads and tell themselves, “no.” It’s about the same time your baby is developing other milestones. But what if your baby does not seem to understand “no”? How do you teach them that? Being an educator ..read more

8 Myths People Say When Your Baby’s Allergic to Dogs
Well Being Kid Blog

We’ve met Fictitious Felicia (FF) at least once in our existence. They tell us, “Do this; not that” when they learn something about our lives, such as our baby being allergic to dogs. But don’t get them wrong. Fictitious Felicias don’t mean any harm. They are just unaware. Most probably, they got their information from their ancestors who passed their beliefs from generation to generation. This is why I decided to collate these myths I have heard regarding babies who are allergic to dogs. Baby cat allergies run in my family. It all started with my dad, us four siblings, then my two offsprings. Thanks to this, we never had pets. Not even once. My kids have been asking me for a pet, but I have to decline each time because it could be detrimental to their health. But as I was doing my research, I came across some interesting information that may have not been available when we were younger. If I had known these facts before, our life with pets may have changed. […]The post 9 Answers to Your Questions About Baby Cat Allergies appeared first on Well Being Kid ..read more

What I Wish I Knew Ten Years Ago About Bowed Legs

“When do babies’ legs straighten out?” I asked my mom. She didn’t give me an exact answer, but she gave me “tips” on how to avoid them. But here’s where it gets interesting. My mom is very traditional. She’s the type of mom who’d use herbs when we got sick. I call her the “essential oil momma.” Don’t get me wrong. Why Do Babies Get Flat Heads? A New Perspective
Well Being Kid Blog
by Sarah Morgan

I vividly remember this question two months after I gave birth to my eldest. I noticed that the back portion of his head is flat, so I asked my mom, “Why do babies get flat heads?” Being the sarcastic mom that she is (but I love her to bits!), she replied, “That’s because you let him sleep on his back all the time.” Then I asked, “Will a baby’s flat head correct by itself?” She said no. Of course, I believed her. At least at that time. I thought my son’s skull is forever doomed. I had completely forgotten about it when I noticed his head is almost back to normal. I guess he was about three at ..read more

Should I Worry If My Newborn’s Eyes Are Rolling Back?
Well Being Kid Blog
by Sarah Morgan

Being a first-time parent comes with both excitement and fear. During the first few weeks, it’s more of the latter, especially because babies have weird movements we’ve never seen before. One particular motion I remember vividly is when my newborn’s eyes were rolling back. At first, I thought it was because he was sleepy. Then I noticed him doing it even when nursing or just playing. So I did what any concerned mother would do--talk to his pediatrician, who has kind enough to answer my inquiries immediately. I’m sharing here what she and my research told me. 5 Instances Waking a Sleeping Baby is Perfectly OK
Well Being Kid Blog

When I was a first-time mom, I thought waking a sleeping baby is to be avoided at all costs. Babies should be allowed to sleep for as long as we can. It made sense back then because I would either catch up on sleep or do chores.  Hence, the longer my baby sleeps, the more time I have to do what’s needed. But my baby’s pediatrician told me it’s not always true. Yes, we should sleep when the babies sleep, but there are times we should limit their sleep duration. Here are the instances you should wake a sleeping baby: […]The post 5 Instances Waking a Sleeping Baby is Perfectly OK appeared first ..read more

Do Newborns Have Nightmares? My Startling Discovery
Well Being Kid Blog
by Ibeaa Perdon

As I was researching the other day about infantile dreams, I came across a thought-provoking article, which I would like to share with you today.  For the longest time, when someone asks, “Do newborns have nightmares?” or “Do babies have dreams?” I would always respond with, “Who knows?” But upon reading this journal article, I felt different emotions. I felt both fear and relief. Why? Fear because it could be true and relief because if it were true, then perhaps we can prevent the horrifying results. Anyway, here’s the startling discovery I have.
