Wendy C. and her husband opted to renovate their 1890s home in Allston rather than move. They wanted to transform a warren of unfinished and partially finished rooms in the attic into useable space. Morse worked on the project during the COVID pandemic, creating a large area for working or playing with cozy nooks for flopping and reading, as well as an adjacent area that can be transformed into a guest bedroom or additional workspace. A wet bar, full bath and ample storage complete this third-floor hideaway. Get Details The post Finding Light-Filled Space Under the Eaves appeared first on ..read more

At Morse Constructions, we view small spaces as a creative challenge. This house in Cambridge needed a radical transformation to support a family of four with growing children all in the existing foot print of 650 square feet! Our team added a third bedroom, created an open floor plan balanced with well-delineated, multi-purpose spaces and also created highly functional areas for both privacy and family gatherings. The kitchen area is now smartly designed with cabinetry that provides accessibility in atypical areas. The post Improving Function Without Adding Square Feet appeared first on Morse ..read more

This award winning residential interior was once a dark Cape in Winchester filled with small rooms and heavy paneling. The Morse team transformed it into a flowing open floor plan with airy living spaces by relocating the kitchen and adding a mudroom and adjacent first floor laundry. In addition, we added 2 baths and a master suite – all within the original footprint. Morse Constructions took an imperfect house that the clients’ thought had potential and collaboratively transformed it into a house they now love.   The COVID pandemic made us all reassess our homes, placing a priority on flexible spaces that can be reconfigured for work and play. Working with Maxwell Architects, we built an addition to provide a flexible, hardworking space for an active family in Newton. As part of the renovation, we also tripled the size of the Newton home’s mudroom and created what the homeowner terms “cubby and storage heaven.” Get Details The post Creating Flexible Work Spaces appeared first on Morse Constructions ..read more

When Becky and Mike Oliver bought their home in Wayland, they knew they would be renovating. The kitchen was closed off from the living area and the décor did not reflect the Oliver’s contemporary aesthetic. As parents of two young children, the couple wanted a more communal space that integrated family time with food preparation and eating. Becky and Mike wanted the flowing space to echo the woods surrounding their home by incorporating stained woods and clean lines.  Get Details The post Creating Contemporary, Communal Family Space appeared first on Morse Constructions ..read more
