Very unfortunate

I am writing this letter with a heavy heart, compelled to seek your intervention in this unfortunate situation . On December10 ,2023 , my life was shattered when the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) abruptly removed the precious infant I had been lovingly caring for as a temporary guardian. This unimaginable act was based on the fact that the biological mother had kidnapped her other child, who had also been entrusted to my care. Throughout my tenure as guardian, I have consistently provided both children with a stable, nurturing, and loving home. I have fully complied with a ..read more

I want to fully custody of my son, not sure if I’ll win. My son’s father got a DUI in February, after getting drunk and threatening to hurt himself. He dropped my son off at my house the night before then next morning texted me drunk that he wanted to hurt himself then got the DUI. He’s had a history of both, he’s been to rehab and I’ve stopped him from hurting himself before, I had to hide gun from him. He also is jobless. He was in school but he dropped out once again. He other flunks out of classes or drops classes every semester. He’s threatening to send me to court because I keep my son ..read more

Weird situation

So, my sister legally adopted two kids. She had this ex boyfriend who was a piece of garbage really, and he popped back up years later and messaged her. Said hi or whatever and they were cordial at the time. Basically this dude was convinced one of her adopted kids was his child that she lied about and raised behind his back. After a while of him badgering her about it, and threatening her, I don’t know if it just pissed her off or not but she basically played along with it for about a month or so. She said she doesn’t feel bad because he’s in jail and was trying to use her for a place to par ..read more

Curious if married couples need to explicitly disclose all account values in postnuptial for them to be valid? Or can they mention retirement accounts without going into the details of account numbers and account value? submitted by /u/cowboy-Jim [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Husband is an addict Illinois

Long story short my husband is an addict and it definitely is much worse than I ever knew. He was arrested in January for DV and a felony drug charge and has 5 duis and multiple drug paraphernalia charges (40+ easily with traffic). Since we split I have learned he does crack Xanax and heroin for sure (definitely smoking and I suspect shooting) and also suspect meth. I also found out he had been taking our baby to go get drugs at least 11x. My lawyer motioned for restricted parenting time and his motioned to establish parenting time and we had a GAL appointed. I was very honest with the GAL ab ..read more

New custody order does not match what was agreed on in court

Hi everyone, we recently changed a custody order. We were going to go to trial but were able to come to a settlement (before a judge). However when we received the new custody order, it does not match what was said in court. This is so frustrating! I am very suspicious of my exs lawyer who wrote this new order. And of course it is in her favor (she is getting two more days a week out of it), and that’s what she is following now. What happens now? How can we make this right? Right now we have a call out to our lawyer, but waiting to see what he says. Not sure if this is useful information eith ..read more

Emergency custody question (TN)

My husband obtained emergency temp custody of my step son until a court hearing can be set. Question is what would happen if mom picked step son up from school and didn’t give him back? We’ve told the school they aren’t to let him go with her but nervous minds still wonder? Would it be a civil issue with dad being unable to get him back? Or would it be a criminal issue? submitted by /u/FutureOrganization24 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Married in USA Divorce in Ireland

Hello! A little backstory and a couple questions I hope are easy. I was young and dumb and got married young to an Irish person. We were married in the US and moved to Ireland. And as life goes we changed as we grew older and we’re now in divorce proceedings. It’s amicable and will be over soon. I plan to stay in Ireland as I’ve now lived here my entire adult life. Now my question is who do I send it to and how do I make sure it’s valid in the US? I keep finding stuff about needing to live there which just seems a little silly. Thank you for your time and help ♥️ submitted by /u/YureiMon [vi ..read more

Adding father to birth certificate. Houston TX

This has actually been a pain for me. I have had troubles in the past trying to get my name added as the father on my child's birth certificate and I'm trying to clarify this misunderstanding. 2 years ago I had tried to add my name as the father to my child's birth certificate. I've been told by vital statistics that I need a court order or an acknowledgement of paternity. I have contacted multiple companies certified by the state to do the process for my acknowledgement of paternity, but I'm being informed they can't do an AOP for me since I have agreed final court orders acknowledgeing by b ..read more
