Building LEGO Masters EP 1 Scene: Drain the Ocean
The Brickman

LEGO Masters Season 4 is finally here! To kick off the first challenge, each team had to build something they thought could be found at the very bottom of the ocean. The Brickman team built the shipwreck at the centre of this challenge as well as designed the 8 circular round base plates for the contestants to build on. We began building the rock base along with a few coral pieces. When building the ship, careful consideration was taken to ensure there were tiny gaps spread throughout so that the water would drain out! The masts were tricky to build as they had to look worn and thin ..read more

Building a life-size LEGO® Technic McLaren Formula 1 Race Car

We are super proud to finally be able to reveal our latest massive project for The LEGO Group – a life sized LEGO Technic® McLaren  Formula 1 Race Car ! This enormous model is over 5m long and weighs more than the real F1 car its modelled after! It took our whole team nearly 1,900 hours to design and build using 288,315 LEGO® bricks. Because the model was designed for the public and the actual F1 drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris to sit in it, we had to start the model with a steel frame that could take the weight and be robust enough for thousands of people to clim ..read more

The Brickman
by Mark Curnow

Merry Bricksmas everyone! For the two Christmas LEGO® Masters Australia specials this year we built both a giant LEGO brick Christmas Tree as well as new Christmas-themed version of the LEGO Masters Trophy. The Christmas tree was designed as huge upscaled version ( 16 x to be precise) of a small LEGO build, with giant  LEGO studs 10 x 10 real LEGO studs in diameter. In fact, as a special Bricksmas gift, we’ve created instructions for you to build your own Bricksmas tree! Each section of the trunk and horizontal section of “leaves” was built as separate elements that could be slotte ..read more

For Sydney’s third LEGO® Certified store in Castle Hill we decided to make our giant LEGO® minifig a Conservationist cuddling some cute koalas!  We always try to localise our models to make them represent the area of the store and with so  many wildlife parks not far from Castle Hill, it gave us the perfect excuse to build some more cute Australian animals! Below you can see the build team for our conservationist minifig, from left, Stefan, Ry and Greg. We’ve built a few LEGO brick koalas before, notably for our giant 10m tall Christmas tree in 2014 and for our Awesome exhibi ..read more

We are super excited to be able to finally reveal some of the models we built for the new LEGO® certified stores opening in 2021! As with all of the stores so far we built one giant minifig model and a huge mosaic for the new store in Townsville. The builders, from left, Darren, Eamon, Jordan and Stefan For the Townsville store, being one of the gateways to the Great Barrier Reef, we chose to make our minifig a marine biologist complete with a friendly octopus! As with most of our large scale builds that a in an open public place, we have to reinforce the model with steel to make sure it is s ..read more
