Adafruit Forums user IanLukeFinley creates a light up Zagreus from Hades cosplay. There are actually four different animations: the fire on the crown and feet, the pulse in the skulls’ eyes, and then a chase and a pulse in the sword. Which also has a steady red/green option via a switch. I hooked up a set of three AA batteries in series to power the (NeoPixel) lights and the Adafruit Metro board. Check out the build in the Adafruit forums here ..read more

Check out the latest guide from Erin St Blaine: make a light-up Rapunzel wig that reacts to sounds and lights up when the wearer makes a noise. This is based on Rapunzel’s glowing hair from the Disney Tangled movie, where the main character’s hair glows when she sings a special song, giving her magic healing powers. Making kids feel like magical princesses is always worthwhile. Erin used ChatGPT to write the CircuitPython code for this project, and the guide also has a page that shows the prompts and process she used to create this code. Shared by Azaryia on Thingiverse: Darth Bane’s orbalisk armor mask from Star Wars Legends! This has been a long-term cosplay goal of mine to make, and I finally finished it! Darth Bane is hands down my favorite Sith Lord from across both Legends and Canon (ever heard of the Rule of Two?! Case closed!). I included the overall model as a single STL, as well as the same model split into 4 pieces. I have a small print bed, so needed to split it up to print. Also, this model was made pretty exactly to fit my face – you may want/need to scale it up a bit before printing Enjoy the power of the Dar ..read more

Create your own Dawnguard armour from Skyrim. Art of Armor. ArmorySmith shared this video on Youtube! It’s great to make functional armor from the games I’ve played a while ago. This was an interesting one, a helmet from Skyrim, Dawnguard. We had a wonderful time exploring and exhibiting at Maker Faire Bay Area 2023. Maker Faire has been on hiatus the last few years, since the COVID pandemic shut down events all over the world.  This year it returned in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a brand-new location right on the waterfront in Vallejo, CA. Vallejo is a suburb of the San Francisco area, and is home to a lot of art warehouses and build spaces. Artists have been moving en masse out of Oakland and SF over the last few years due to rising rents and limited space, especially during the challenging pandemic years when artis ..read more
