What Can Cause Tension Rods to Back Out Quickly? I've tried many things to Fix.

How goes it, guy & gal drummers? I have a question about a tension rod that suddenly keeps backing out of one of my snares, which causes the one next to it to loosen a bit, as well. I have a Ludwig Accent CS 14” x 6.5” (China) snare drum that my guitarist gave me (with entire kit), which I absolutely LOVE the sound of. Even though it’s an inferior China import, it’s a favorite of mine sound-wise – in my top 3, actually, right up there with my ’79 Acrolite, & a custom solid cherry steam-bent one I have. I hope to use this snare on my band's next CD/recording. Anyways..... It was fine fo ..read more

What's one aspect of drumming you wish you practiced more earlier in your journey? Besides using a metronome, we know.

Almost a year since I started drumming! (Although it's been difficult to find time to play during the semester)

I really could only practice during the semester when I could find time to get to the music building when the kit wasn't being used. However, I got there today! I'm about a month away until a year since I actually started drumming and have no intentions of stopping any time soon. I might be getting my first acoustic kit at home this summer and will be playing at my church. ?? submitted by /u/TrazBurger [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My current dimensions are 10/12/16/22 with a 14” snare. Space isn’t an issue. View Poll submitted by /u/Timothee-Chalimothee [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’ve been looking forever and can’t seem to find a parts catalog or a matching lug anywhere on the internet. Has anyone here had any luck getting parts from Yamaha or could anyone point me in the right direction of where to look? submitted by /u/No_Strawberry8454 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I found this jordison snare at a pawn shop a couple months ago. Got a great price on it because the heads were beat to shit (lol). Unbeknownst to me, the snare butt end is stripped, so I'm in the process of swapping that out, and the lug casings weren't connected, meaning tuning is a nightmare. (Had I known this I would've payed even less but here we are.) Mainly what I'm asking is how to deal with these separated lug casings. They're all somehow completely detached. I can't really tell, is it normally just a lil screw that goes inside the shell to hold them? submitted by /u/Jerm2560 [v ..read more

Ludwig serial# help?

Hey y'all, I promise I tried to Google this first! I picked up a Ludwig floor tom off FB today (10-lug, 16x16", 6-ply[?], black wrap, blue/olive pointy badge.) Serial number is 2098888, which is a little too high for any of the '60s/'70s charts I've seen, and probably puts it around 1981/'82 (which looks like it was a weird time for Ludwig manufacturing.) I'm just curious to know more about this drum (especially since I'm about to drill holes in it and convert it to a kick drum.) submitted by /u/Imbrogna [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
