Brighid of the Mantles encompass us.
Lady of the Lambs protect us.
Keeper of the Hearth kindle us.
Beneath your mantle gather us
And Restore us to memory.
traditional invocation
While I deeply honor the Gods, and the many fluid, multiple, and mysterious genders that are manifestations of Deity, my own epiphany and transformation in 1974 was absolutely, unmistakably Feminine (and yes, little Miss Episcopalian Me was STUNNED by this!).
Thus, on this 50th anniversary of my call to the Goddess, I am rededicating myself to Her in all Her forms. But most especially, to beloved Brighid, for I have ..read more

Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers,
but to be fearless in facing them.
~ Rabindranath Tagore
As you may know from the increasing popularity of the topic (and perhaps from the many essays and articles I have published over the years), the numerology of your birthday, or of a particular year, corresponds to the Tarot Major Arcana cards (the triumphs).
Using this system, we can learn about some general traits and patterns that can be anticipated in a given year. These will emerge as a powerful global influence.
As I had explained last year, since 2+0+2+3 totals 7, we were experiencing ..read more

Out with the old and in with the new!
There’s magic on New Year’s in all that you do!
Beth
Rejoice, my dears! We stand at the crossroads of a new year!
I suggest that you spend some time today in sacred space, setting your intention for the shining promise of this new beginning.
Supported by Mercury, Jupiter, and Uranus in retrograde, this is an ideal time to REview, REflect, RElax, and make sure that in days of auld lang syne, old acquaintance not be forgot.
And you’ll probably be relieved to know Mercury stations direct tomorrow!
New Year’s is a gateway of very old magic, and all forms of ..read more

Peace On Earth, Good Will to All.
No Exceptions.
If you haven’t already, it’s time to light your final Advent candle.
Thank you to all who joined us this year to make the 19th Anniversary of our Sun Wheel ceremony the biggest and best yet.
May all your days be merry and bright.
ps: The Card of the Week will be back the 1st of January. Taking my own advice and observing the Halcyon Days this week. Thanks.

The Final Candles of the Christmas Advent Prayer Wreath
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.
Hamilton Wright Mabie
Today is the final Sun Day before Christmas, for those of you counting down to this happy holiday.
And then, of course, that magical morning so beloved by Christendom arrives tomorrow.
Thus, tonight at dusk, you will light the fourth candle of your wreath. In many denominations, the fourth candle may represent Peace, or Purity.
For those lighting candles for Christmas, your final candle in our wreath circle will be the one in the Center ..read more

Dark shepherdess of many a golden star,
Dost see me, Mother Night?
From The Electra by Euripides
As I have done for many years, I am encoring my annual observance of Winter Solstice Eve. May this holy night of deep, velvety dark mystery be a quiet blessing for you. Deep peace to all.
– Beth
This is the day before Winter Solstice, and the traditional celebration of Mother Night.
As far as we know, our ancestors did not have atomic clocks or satellites to help them dissect Time to the nanosecond. Instead, they had to figure by their keen observation, by dead reckoning, by the plants and ani ..read more

All the Earth waits for the chorus of our voices.
All the rocks and trees shudder with the song of life.
All the plants and those that live under the roots hum.
Angela Magara, from Psalm 114, Earth Psalms
This is the fourth and final Sun Day before Winter Solstice, and it is the third Sunday of Christian advent.
If you are joining our global prayer circle for the first time (it’s never too late, until after the final lighting!), or if you wish to refresh your memory as to the general steps of this Sun Wheel celebration, please visit here.

And over all, the blessed Sun,
Telling of halcyon days begun.
David Macbeth Moir (1798-1851)
As I do each year around this time, I invite you to join me as we step into a magical Time Out of Time called the Halcyon Days. I first learned of this practice many years ago, from my friend and favorite holiday curator, the late Waverly Fitzgerald.
And each year, similarly to our growing tradition of the Advent Solstice Wreath ceremony, more and more of you report you are making this a conscious part of your holiday traditions, too.
This is a very old tradition that begins a week to ten days befor ..read more

Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.
Rabindranath Tagore
Tonight, Dec. 10, is the third night of our global Solstice Sun-Wheel Prayer Circle, if you are counting down to Winter Solstice. Otherwise, if you are counting down to Christmas only, this is Week 2.
As I have explained in past weeks, this is simply because this year, there is an extra Sunday between Solstice and Christmas.
For folks who are honoring both holidays, you will just light your last candle again for Christmas.
The Basics
If you’re just joining us, welcome! You are not too late!

Tonight we all come together to celebrate the internationally beloved Annual Solstice Sun Wreath ceremony.
If you and your family are counting down to Solstice (and perhaps also to Christmas), tonight is your second lighting of the candles. Our first candle was lit last Sunday, Nov. 26.
If you are counting down only to Christmas, you will be lighting your first candle tonight.
I know it sounds a little confusing, but it’s just that this year, we have an extra Sun Day between Solstice and Christmas. So the official Christian advent countdown begins tonight, Dec. 3.
That’s why I am suggesting t ..read more
