Pittsburgh Association of the Deaf (PAD) became a charter club back in 1929 to "encourage wholesome sports, pastime and recreation; exert a wholesome influence upon the conduct of its members; help the Deaf to secure employment, aid in educating the Deaf and maintain a club for the social enjoyment of its members."
