Asinara gets a well deserved win

It ended up being no more than a piece of work for Asinara to get off the mark comfortably at Ffos Las. Admittedly the opposition wasn't of a particularly high standard but she won very easily. We have always held her in high regard, and went into her second race pretty confident and really weren't expecting to come across The Brittania winner at a cold evening meeting at Southwell! She's a big, rangy filly who is also a late foal and she did go through a weak period. However she seems over that now, and hopefully this win will be a stepping stone to better things ..read more

Remarkable Flight wins again
Charle Hills News
by Philippa Hills

Remarkable Flight clearly likes the undulating tracks as she added to her Brighton win with a win at Epsom. She’s quite a temperamental character, and Will Cox did a great job coaxing her around. She flicked her ears all the way down the straight and probably had plenty in the locker. It looks like we’ll have to stick to the quirky tracks with her ..read more

Cicero’s Gift back with a bang
Charle Hills News
by Philippa Hills

We’ve always held Cicero’s Gift in the highest regard, however after Royal Ascot last year he suffered from some very severe bone bruising which necessitated a six month break turned out in the paddock. To be fair to the horse he was a very good patient, and March we started the long road back. Everyone involved has been absolutely brilliant and the result was plain to see at Sandown. He was probably only 80% fit, so to do what he did under a big weight was even more impressive. He has come out of the race in good shape and we will look to Goodwood and the conditions race which had been his or ..read more

Victory Sound wins cosily
Charle Hills News
by Philippa Hills

Victory Sound has always been very straightforward at home, so we were surprised when he behaved as badly as he did first time out. He still ran a very encouraging race and despite all the antics only lost 1kg! He was much better at Haydock, having learnt what going racing was all about and won snugly. He’s a laid back character, but does have plenty of ability and he’ll definitely come on for the run again ..read more

Trefor scoots in at Newmarket
Charle Hills News
by Philippa Hills

Trefor backed up his win at Windsor with an impressive display at Newmarket in a competitive race. He's another who loves quick ground. The handicapper is probably not going to be kind to him, but the way he's progressing a step up in class looks within in his capability ..read more

Khaadem does it again at Royal Ascot
Charle Hills News
by Philippa Hills

The old boy did it again and retained his crown in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes in almost identical fashion to last year. He badly needed his run at York, where he didn't have a great draw or the quick ground he loves. However it really brought him on and he was showing plenty of enthusiasm at home. Having got his rattling quick ground again at Ascot he showed again what he's capable of when conditions suit and he's in the mood. He’ll pop up in all the top sprints again this year, and we just have to hope for a dry summer ..read more

Bodorgan makes it a double at Windsor
Charle Hills
by Philippa Hills

Bodorgan provided David and Julie Martin and yard with a double at Windsor. Although he was one of the outsiders we were quietly confident as he has been working well with the likes of The Ice Phoenix. Rob Hornbŷ gave him a lovely ride, and it was probably easier than it looked on the TV. Now he’s got some confidence he should continue to improve ..read more

Socialite impresses at Doncaster
Charle Hills
by Philippa Hills

The form of Socialite’s Leicester race couldn’t have worked out better, but we were still not particularly confident at Doncaster as the race looked a good one with the Gimcrack third among those in opposition. We shouldn’t have worried at all, as he made the running and only had to be pushed out to win cosily. He’s a lovely looking horse with and great temperament, and clearly a big engine. We won’t rush to make a decision as to where he runs next but it’s safe to say he will be going up in class ..read more

Trefor wins again at Windsor
Charle Hills

Back at the scene of this two year old win, Trefor was tough and stuck his head out when it mattered. He got himself a bit worked up at Newmarket beforehand, so we put a red hood on him and he behaved a lot better. He’s still fairly unfurnished and looks like there will be more to come as the year goes on ..read more

Last to first for Mitbaahy in Ireland
Charle Hills
by Philippa Hills
2M ago
It was a classic Jamie Spencer ride on Mitbaahy to come from last to first in the Greenlands Stakes at The Curragh. The horse has been a pleasure to have around since he arrived last autumn, and it’s great it hasn’t taken long to get a Group race win into him for Jim and Fitri Hay who are such big supporters of ours. Next stop will be Ascot, we’re leaning towards the 6 furlong race but he will be competitive in which ever of the Group 1 sprints he contests there ..read more
