I was diagnosed with DCIS what year ago. I decided to have a double mastectomy and then I did reconstruction surgery. Six months later I got back pain and went in and they found a tumor on my spine T 10. I am having the tumor taken out next week. It’s been extremely painful and I only have 80% of the vertebrae left. My question is there anybody on here that was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer that metastasized so quickly?? submitted by /u/Dashaholiday [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello everyone, I hope it is okay but I'm trying to educate myself a little better when it comes to breast cancer. My friend who had it can't tell me much because she went into immediate surgery during her time of hardship. However, my mother-in law was diagnosed last October with stage three breast cancer. She did three months of chemo but would never take any of her children with her to her appointments. She has actually been very calm through this whole situation like it doesn't exist. Which is amazing to me. Yet beginning of this year she said she would have to have her breast remove. She ..read more

Diagnosed with IDC ++- grade 2 stage 2. I know there's a lot worse. I feel like I shouldn't even be worried but I am freaking out. I've never had surgery. The only time I've been in the hospital is for natural childbirth.i have surgery scheduled for the 29th and it's taking everything in me to not cancel it. I'm terrified. I'm so scared. I don't have a support group and I'm a privàte person. I don't really have a lot of a support group. My hubby loves me and is trying but he's stressed too my 3 adult sons I don't want to stress them out. Scheduled an appt with a mental health counselor but I ..read more

I’m here in this club I don’t wanna be and I’m tryna play nice with the doctors and nurses who are lovely but I don’t really want to know them. Anyway I misunderstood an appointment I was having today and thought I was getting my port inserted. I was incorrect it was just the initial exam. But guess what? I had a PE so I can’t be off eliquis even for a minute and so never Mind scheduling the port that I really didn’t want anyway. So now I need an ultrasound to see if I can get a picc line. Again. None of which I want. But why am I mad? I have no clue but you get it right? Thank you for lettin ..read more

Hello! I just had my first chemo treatment last week. My lips are so chapped and the lip balm I have provides very little relief. Does anyone have a recommendation for a lip balm that seemed to work? Thanks! submitted by /u/TheAnimalPack [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Tomorrow morning l am going for a lumpectomy and lymph node removal. I’m sitting her trying to get my things together but I don’t want to go. I’m not ready for this. It’s just over 4 weeks since l was diagnosed and lve barely had time to think - 4 weeks of testing, poking and prodding. I know I have to do this but l would like a week with no hospital visits . submitted by /u/Just_Tip_3273 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Where does the shrinking tumour go?

I posted earlier this week about an increase in nipple discharge. When I called my MO's office he was unconcerned and said that it's actually an indicator that the chemo is working. It made me start wondering, when a tumour shrinks, how does it leave the body? Does it pass through BM's or urinating? Or is it leaving through the nipple? Or is this discharge regular liquid from the duct? All my musings ☺️ submitted by /u/Arctic_Siku2022 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Taxol long term effect?

I started Taxol mid march, so it's been about a month. I'm in peri-menopause. So last few days I've been feeling a bit weepy, reminding me of the time of the month around period, but I've haven't had period for about 5-6 months now. I don't know if this feeling is typical or a built up side effect of Taxol? I also notice that since I've started Taxol, my energy is sort of ok but not back to pre-chemo therapy level. I notice I get tired more easily and overall physically harder to kickup the adrenaline to do physical work. Anybody has similar response? submitted by /u/Candid_Spite_956 [visit ..read more

For those coming up on their first surgery

I have had many surgeries over the years and have always been a bit nervous going into surgery. I was just informed of the option to get medication to relieve anxiety on the day of surgery. Let me just say I wish I knew this years ago. What a godsend to chill out while they were keeping me. If anyone else struggles with this ask your anesthesiologist for something to help. They gave me Ativan which worked fast. submitted by /u/Born-Variation924 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
