Yesterday I had my initial radiation planning meeting. The radiation tech made several markings in blue and red ink then covered them with transparent stickers.
This morning I had a treadmill stress test. The tech had to place a number of electrodes over my torso. I explained about the markings and that we needed to be careful. Unfortunately, he wasn't as careful as he should have been! When the stress test was over, he unpeeled one of the stickers along with the tape. Most of the pigment came off. The lines are very faintly there.
I don't want to mess up the radiation. It's my left side afte ..read more

4/23 was my second round of AC. Minimal nausea this time and I seemed to be headed for the same constipation so I took senna on day 2. Well day 3 has sucked and I can’t stray far from a bathroom. I am so hungry from the steroids but my nurse nav recommended the BRAT diet to get the diarrhea calmed down with help from Imodium and it is just not satisfying the hunger ?. And to top it off my hair started falling out. ?♀️

I’m really scared because it said it’s for post-menopausal women and I’m not even pre-menopausal. I have had a hysterectomy for endo stage 4 and have one ovary left. Currently recovering from a double mastectomy (4/4) with reconstruction (expanders in now). I was stage 1 and had 3 tumors (two were 7mm and one was 4 mm). They removed one sentinel node and a node from my left non-cancer boob. My oncologist (who is chief of the department at the cancer center) said they were too small to run an oncotype test. Ki-67 Percentage of Positive Nuclei: 10 %. ER >95% 2-3+ and PR 100% POSITIVE 3+ and ..read more

39/f I finished chemo 4 weeks ago. I had my echo and saw the results in the portal. My GLS is -13. It was -18 before chemo. I’m worried it will delay my radiation. Has anyone else experienced this? What does it mean?

In my 30s, ++-. I had a grade 1, less than 1 cm tumor with a lumpectomy scheduled in the upcoming weeks. Had a pre-surgery MRI which led to an ultrasound and biopsy on a larger mass.
They called me within 24 hours which I am so grateful for but the tumor is much larger than expected, almost 5 cm and didn't show up in my initial mammogram or ultrasound, just a small node piece that I could feel. While my surgeon said a lumpectomy is possible, I'm going to just opt for a masectomy due to the size. I think I'm doing okay, it just sucks. I'm glad to know, everything but it went from small tiny tu ..read more

What even do I call it, since I'm still on a maintenance AI and getting Zometa infusions?
Anyway, my first scan after last year's assorted fuckery (3 surgeries, including lumpectomy and oophorectomy, radiation, etc.), came back clear.
The only part where I felt anxiety was oddly when the radiation tech started asking for all my family history of cancer. Gave me a flashback to right after my diagnosis and was talking to the genetic counselor. Go figure.
Anyway, one down.

This is a new test to determine if you’ll benefit from long-term (10 years) treatment with hormone therapies like tamoxifen. I’m four years, two months into tamoxifen and took the test because there’s no fucking way I can keep taking this med for six more years. I was ecstatic to get the results that continuing treatment will have no added benefit, so I’ll stop the meds around year end.
The test also tells you your overall 10-year chance of recurrence (19.3% for me) and the chance in Years 5-10 (9.4%). This puts me in a high risk category by their measures but still seems like pretty good odd ..read more

I was just told by one person (nurse coordinator) that the shot isn't a guaranteed way to keep my ovaries protected. Then I was told by my doctor that it's the best way to preserve my ovaries and protect my uterus from chemo. I really want to have kids after chemo. I don't know what to do. My doctor said it would help slow the spread of cancer and that's very much what I want. I feel like I'm being stupid for not knowing about any of this but I feel like I'm being given a rubix cube and they are all yelling at me ways to solve it but also making it more complicated. So if anyone could help sh ..read more
