This series is inspired by the must read book “All Caps, Stories That Justify an Outrageous Hat Collection”by Craig Colby. Craig wrote this book about the many caps he has and the stories behind it. Anyhow, this series will be about the caps I own and the stories behind them. In this episode of “Personal Stories About Ballcaps,” we pay attention to the cap of the multiple Bulgarian champion, Sofia Blues. After spending a full week writing game reports and taking photos with the Federation Cup in Brasschaat in 2021, the local club, Brasschaat Braves, asked me to take some photos they co ..read more

A rumor has been floating around for a while. According to this rumor, the DBV (German Baseball Federation) is looking to change the format of the highest German Baseball League, the 1. Bundesliga. In need of information, yours truly posted a question about the matter in a German Baseball Facebook group. And according to one of the answers, the DBV is discussing a change indeed. Last year, the North Division lost a team because the Solingen Alligators were put back to a third-tier league due to problems with the board. As a result, the North Division had only seven teams instead of eight. Fo ..read more

On its website, the Larry H. Miller Company, owner of the Salt Lake Bees, announced the Salt Lake Bees will move into a new stadium in 2025. That new ballpark will be constructed in the Salt Lake City area, in Daybreak, a master-planned community in South Jordan, Utah, to be exact. Unlike many other Minor League ballparks that are funded by local municipalities, the new ballpark will be privately funded. The construction of the ballpark will start this year, and will be ready before the start of the 2025 season. The Larry H. Miller Company discussed the lease of Smith’s Ballpark, but eventua ..read more

Some nice news for the Deurne Spartans that came to me on New Year’s Eve. The Belgian Baseball and Softball Federation (KBBSF-FRBBS) has decided to lift the ban it imposed on the Spartans two years ago. The Dutch Baseball Hangout heard the KBBSF-FRBBS announced this at a meeting of Division 1 clubs in November, 2022, but one of the club’s members told the news on New Year’s Eve. In 2020, Deurne Spartans would represent Belgium in the CEB cup (now called Confederation Cup) as Belgian champion, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club decided to pull back at the eleventh hour. The Belgian Ba ..read more

With the end of the transaction period in Belgian baseball behind us, it is time to pay attention to the several clubs in Division 1 and to the players they acquired and those who they lost. Today, we pay attention to the four-time Belgian champions Deurne Spartans. Except for several players that came from Antwerp Eagles last year, but never really had a shot on making the team, no. one of the core left, so that’s good news for the Deurne Spartans. Knowing their permanent members from Venezuela will likely return next year, Spartans acquired three new players. Like many other clubs, also Sp ..read more
