Gary Vaynerchuk Talking Sports Cards on Dan Patrick Show

Hobbyists share their opinions on Gary Vaynerchuk almost as much as they do about Allen & Ginter.  Love him, hate him, or somewhere in between, he is one of the biggest voices involved in the sports card hobby.  He’s worked with Topps to produce a set with his name on it, and even was a subject in 2019 Allen & Ginter. Gary Vaynerchuk was on The Dan Patrick Show this morning talking sports cards.  He said that he’d rather invest in cards than stocks as well as mentioning Luka Doncic and Pokemon.  You can watch the full conversation below.   Please sign up to r ..read more

I’ve acquired a lot of cards over time and had begun setting up at card shows before COVID hit.  I’m not sure when I will feel that it’s time to start again, so I’m going to start moving some things on Twitter.   I’m starting tonight with close to 600 cards from my 3-for-$1 boxes.  Tonight will be mostly baseball with some smaller amounts of basketball, hockey and football.  I’ll be posting for the foreseeable future, so follow me on Twitter at @beansbcardblog.  That will be the only place I’m selling them.   Rules and shipping info Cards will be posted and sold ..read more

Selling to Blowout Cards: My First Two Experiences
Bean's Ballcard Blog

Leaving no mystery about it, I’m thrilled with my first two experiences selling to Blowout Cards. Sports cards are booming and many in the hobby are looking at ways to benefit, myself included.  Three weeks ago I knew nothing about the process, or even that Blowout Cards purchased unopened product in small quantities.   Submitting cards to COMC is not a cost effective option at the moment.  Basic submissions are taking months longer to process that in “normal” times, and with no compensation to sellers missing sales throughout this boom.  Selling on eBay right now is a sca ..read more

Hobby Palooza 2020 – Streaming this Weekend on YouTube

What is Hobby Palooza 2020?  Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that The National was supposed to be this week.  For many, the most anticipated part of the show isn’t adding to one’s collection.  You can do that on eBay.  Many look forward all year to interaction with hobby friends spread across the world.  That may have been taken from us, but as thehobbypalooza.com says, the “goal is to replicate this (the community of The National) in the most natural way possible.” Something about the hobby that frustrates me is that collectors are quite segmented ..read more

Michael Jordan Cards: My Top 3 #3JordanCards
Bean's Ballcard Blog

Why am I showing my top three Michael Jordan cards?  The quick answer is because I’m replying to the House Of Jordans podcasts’ call to action.  The team focuses on Instagram, but on their most recent show asked us to share our top three cards via social media. A couple of the notes were that you don’t have to own the card and also, it’s not just the most valuable cards.  Also, they want to know the “why,” which is a big part of me sharing mine. I’m not a high-end card snob.  I don’t buy expensive cards just so I can show them off, as I feel many others do. My most “valuabl ..read more

George “Mooney” Gibson Book: Co-Authors Q&A

Last week I posted a YouTube video showing off my George Gibson T206 card after receiving my copy of a book I ordered in the fall, George “Mooney” Gibson: Canadian Catcher for the Deadball Era Pirates.  I’ve completed a Q&A with the co-authors, Richard Armstrong and Martin Healy Jr., to share.  They are just like you and I, sports fans, collectors and neither had written a book before now.   In the video, I mentioned picking up my T206 Gibson after meeting Armstrong on Net 54. He informed me that George Gibson is actually connected to Scoops Carey, a man whose cards I collect because he a ..read more

Perusing YouTube, I came across this video from the Fox Business Network about the “Black Swamp Find” of more than 700 E98 caramel cards in 2012.  I had heard about the find, but this is a fantastic video that I thought I’d share. You can purchase cards from the historical Black Swamp Find on eBay.  Click here to search for them.  I hope you enjoy the video. The coronavirus ramifications are hitting hard across the country and affecting many aspects of our society.  It’s affect on TTMs is small in the grand scheme of things, but many collectors’ collections are heavy, if not completely, TTM related. Joining Trading Card Database is free, easy and this is the perfect time!  The world is crazy right now.  It’s a great time to trade cards.  You may be stuck at home by the government.  You may be on a card buying hiatus.  Perhaps both are true.  Most collectors flock straight to eBay, but there are many other options and Trading Card Database is one of the best.
