The United States Department of Health and Human Services reports that 27 million Americans will need long-term care by the year 2050. Medicare is an important benefit for many older Americans, but it’s not helpful when it comes to paying for nursing home or assisted living care services. I was very privileged to be recently interviewed by Kimberly Scott for her wonderful blog, “CaregiverStories: Breaking the Cycle of Dementia.” In it I shared my own experiences – and anecdotes – in caring for my wife Nancy, who passed away from early onset dementia on July 4, 2012 – 7 years ago.
