The best thing about this game is that it’s over. On Saturday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers for the second game of a three-game series, losing 4-2 to bring their record to 13-15. Let’s get this out of the way now, the Blue Jays as they currently stand, are not going to be a playoff team. Hell, they’re going to be sellers at the deadline if they continue to play the way they have been this season. The Dodgers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, again, with a Freddie Freeman sac fly. Over the next three innings, the Dodgers would add an additional ..read more

Blue Jays – Barger gets first crack at the big leagues from a talented Buffalo Bisons core

Earlier this week, the Toronto Blue Jays dipped into their prospect pool and called up Addison Barger from triple-A with centre fielder Kevin Kiermaier landing on the injured list with a left hip injury. Barger created a lot of noise last spring, with the athletic infielder/outfielder putting on a strong display of what he could do at the plate and on the field with his plus arm but injuries limited him to just 94 games as he mustered .745 OPS while spending most of the season in triple-A. Fast forward to this season and Barger has been posting the stats that the Blue Jays front office was hop ..read more

GDB 28.0: Blue Jays look to salvage something against Dodgers

Friday night’s game was less than ideal, to say the least. Coming off a weird finish to the Jays’ series against the Royals in which the fourth game of the four-game set was called after five innings, Toronto had no juice coming home to face the Dodgers. Chris Bassitt got torn up by the L.A. offence, allowing seven earned runs off nine hits, three walks and two home runs, while the Blue Jays bats had absolutely no counter punch to Gavin Stone. It won’t be much easier for them this afternoon, as they now have to square up against one of the best pitchers in the game this year, Tyler Glasnow, wh ..read more

For the second time in three days, the Blue Jays lost every game in the organization. The Vancouver Canadians were postponed for a second straight day, while the other three affiliates in action lost their three games. This was on top of a horrific 13-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Let’s dig in. Buffalo blown out The Bisons played their fourth of six games against the Iowa Cubs, losing 12-3 to Chicago’s minor league team. Their record now sits at 14-10, third in the International League East. There were no doubles or multi-hit games, but seven different Bisons’ had a single. That includes ..read more

Blue Jays get embarrassed by Dodgers with 12-2 pounding in series opener

Well, that was terrible. On Friday, the Blue Jays started a two-series home stand, losing 12-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first game of the series. Yikes. This brings their record to 13-14, which is a somewhat concerning development. Almost-Blue Jay Shohei Ohtani was booed in his first plate appearance, but it clearly didn’t affect him as he hit his seventh home run of the season. What could’ve been? Shohei takes flight in Toronto! pic.twitter.com/pCQ0Q209lp — Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) April 26, 2024 The top of the third was all the scoring that the Dodgers would need, as they pu ..read more

WATCH: Ohtani silences booing Blue Jays fans with home run

When Shohei Ohtani’s name was announced as part of the Los Angeles Dodgers starting lineup at the Rogers Center Friday night, Blue Jays fans rained boos onto the superstar slugger. That is understandable, given that their team was once in the right contention to sign the two-way player last December. When Ohtani took the plate for his first at-bat of the game, those boos got even louder. But it took Ohani all of three pitches to silence those in attendance. Chris Bassitt’s first pitch was taken for a strike, while his second, another sinker, was right in the top of the strike zone, getting cal ..read more

GDB 27: Shohei Ohtani finally lands in Toronto

Shohei Ohtani’s flight to Toronto was long, but 140 days after he “took off” from Orange County, he’s arrived. The only problem? He’s wearing a different shade of blue than the Jays’ colour. It’s been an arduous road for Blue Jays fans since they were in the mix for the superstar this past offseason, and it’s hard to imagine this weekend will bring any closure. Ohtani’s been off to an excellent start to the season, slashing .358/.419/.670 for a 1.089 OPS, while his 14 doubles lead the major leagues. All the while, his AB per HR rate is down at 18.2 from his career average of 14.6. The Jays wil ..read more

Moreover, the Blue Jays top prospect could be throwing in the near future. Blue Jays 2024 Projections – Daulton Varsho and Davis Schneider
Blue Jays Nation Blog

It is known that the starting pitching is mint, however the Toronto Blue Jays are also said to be one of the top defensive teams in all of the major leagues. One section of the defence that’s highly praised is the outfield and four specific men who patrol the green. In this case, we’re going to dissect two of them: Daulton Varsho and Davis Schneider. These two outfield pieces have made some noise with the bats, on the basepaths, and with the leather. Varsho became a Blue Jay as a part of a staggering trade that sent baseball’s top catching prospect, Gabriel Moreno, to the Arizona Diamondbacks ..read more
