Hello I have cerebral palsy and I have use of only one hand and I can move my legs but can’t walk myself. I was wondering how you guys go number 2 because I figured out how to go number 1 by myself but number 2 seems impossible by myself. Getting on the toilet and wiping and the two biggest problems. I’m soon moving in with my girlfriend but she has work and I would like to keep how to do it anyway. Any suggestions or tell me what you do?

Hey all. So I (19) am an autistic POTSie who is also a lesbian, and like the title says, I’m financially and day-to-day dependent on a homophobic parent. I work a part-time job at a fast food place (about 12 hours a week) and this alone is very rough on me, and not nearly enough for me to be able to support myself. I do my best to contribute to the household and kind of carry my weight there, but when my POTS decides to flare up (which is about half of the time), I am often unable to do much at all besides slowly hobble from a chair to the restroom, so other members of the household often hav ..read more

Do these ever make a difference? I've collected pretty detailed ones from my parents, some former coworkers and a few friends. Yes I've also gotten them from my specialists. My mother recently filled out a third party form. I'm currently in appeal.

Hello. I've been disabled for a while, but have suddenly become more disabled in the past month with an unknown condition I'm still waiting to see a neurologist for. My advisor has told me it would be best to withdraw from college for this semester and come back in the fall. My mother is super against this, but I am in constant pain and I've tried my best. I can't keep up with my classes and "suck it up" like she wants me to. My cognitive skills are a bit declined, my motor skills including balance are declined + I get pain all over and headaches throughout the day—twitching and spasms and au ..read more

Hello everyone!
I'm Jennie, a master's student at the School of Visual Arts working on my thesis project. My project focuses on improving the user experience of ride-hailing apps for people who use wheelchairs (e.g., making it easier to request accessible vehicles and communicate specific needs to drivers).
I'm looking for people who use wheelchairs in NYC to participate in a short, 1-hour testing session. This session will involve trying out a prototype I've developed and providing feedback on its usability and accessibility.
Here's what you can expect:
- The session will be conducted in a c ..read more

I should probably query my OT but I thought I'd check in with the hive mind . . .
I have hand controls consisting of a throttle and a spinner on the wheel that I have been trained to use. I steer with my left hand/arm and work the throttle with my right. This set up was working out well for speeds under 35 mph and I easily passed the driving test on side streets. However I'm finding that at speeds >35 and definitely freeway speeds I have a lot of fatigue trying to steer with my left arm, especially around curves that turn to the left. At 60mph even keeping the vehicle straight fatigues me ..read more

I haven’t. I get that there is always a spectrum, some pleople are high functioning some are low functioning some people are dependent in this area while others are not.
However I have experienced this. I have been told that I am too this or too that, I have been told that I need to stop whining, when I am genuinely trying to process how I am feeling. Sometimes I hate working with people like me or with a similar disability because I understand that they are processing and and succeeding the best way they know how, but they don’t give me the same courtesy (unless a neurotypical person does ..read more
