The marvellous Mr. H and I share a love of good food, particularly mouth-watering meats, so it was fitting that we shared a scrumptious 600g prime rib for our special anniversary dinner at Samuels on Mill restaurant. And where is this city restaurant? At the very chic Parmelia Hilton.
This classy little spot, just a hop, skip, and jump from St. Georges Terrace, boasts a light and bright bar, as well as the restaurant with cosy booths and moody lighting—perfect for a romantic meal with your love. We started with a couple of drinkies. Beer for Mr H, and a “Primrose” cocktail for me. This pretty ..read more

For the best part of the last decade, Perth has been all about the latest brand spanking new café, bar or restaurant. While this dining boom has been going on, there have been many venues quietly closing their doors. There are so many restaurants that have closed in Perth over the last few years.
With recent high-profile closings, I realised that about over 20% of the spots I’ve dined at in the last 10 years have closed. There’s lots of restaurants closed in Perth that I never even made it to before they shut up shop, like Greenhouse, Cantina 663, Fromage Art ..read more

Found in the sleepy suburb of Conolly, just a short drive from Joondalup, FyRE restaurant sets the stage for a dining experience with mouthwatering meats as the hero. You may have heard of FyRE’s fiery exchange with an infamous Perth vegan. Well, let’s just say if you’re not of the meat-eating type, you won’t find much on the menu for you here at FyRE Connoly. And you know what, that’s ok! There’s plenty of other places in Perth for vegos to dine.

Perth isn’t short of a brewery; it’s inner-city brewing scene is buzzing right now! In the heart of Subiaco’s urban landscape, you’ll find newcomer Golden West Brewing Co. Not just a place to grab a meal; it’s a cool hangout where the vibes are as delicious as the food and brews. So, next time you see a Hay Street sign saying “Beer Here”, be sure to follow it.
We stumbled upon this spot on a sunny afternoon, after a wander down leafy Rokeby Road. The new spot has brought back an old Perth beverage company, Golden West Aerated Water Company. Once making soft drinks in the 1890’s, in the 1960’s ..read more

Living in Tapping for 15 years, its sod’s law that as soon as I move away, my old ‘hood gets a super cool eatery! There’s something nostalgic about cruising down familiar roads, especially when those roads lead to a drool-worthy burger joint. We popped in for a pint at The Duke, a place I once called my local, and made a pit stop at Perth Burger Collective. It’s found in a cool little retail row, just behind Coles Banksia Grove. I made a mental note to check out Hunter and Fleur for a coffee too.
I’d heard on the foodie grapevine this neighborhood spot is by the guys behind Wanneroo brunch st ..read more

Brown Street Grill, a new-ish eatery by Chef Stewart Laws is found deep in East Perth, at the Bright Tank Brewing Co. It recently celebrated its first anniversary, as did I, with a certain Mr H. Both of us love a mouthwatering steak, and Mr H loves a craft beer, so a celebratory lunch at this trendy spot made very good sense!
Found between Claisebrook Train Station and Claisebrook Cove, Bright Tank Brewing Co is a walkable distance to Optus Stadium. This makes the brew pub a great pre-event meet-up spot. On the day we were lunching there, many of the purple army had that exact idea ..read more
