IIP will receive $641,000 USD to help cover laboratory fees. The Illinois Innocence Project (IIP) will receive a United States Department of Justice Bloodsworth grant — named after Kirk Bloodsworth, exonerated by DNA evidence in 1993 after being sentenced to death — as reported by the Illinois Times.
