I have an interview for a telecom position next week . Some key words on the application were " voip" "sip" and avaya( the phone brand) I've worked as an ITS project manger and I've done desktop engineering and I've worked with a company that does CCtv instalation . So I've spliced wires and worked with servers and other stuff . I would love advice or any suggestions of what to research look into , keywords or anything .. thanks for any help submitted by /u/AfraidKangaroo5664 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have 10 years in the telecom industry from sales to serviceability to design. I am currently in a supervisor position but i have hit my ceiling at the current location. The only way to move up in design is to move to another state but with family situations that is not possible at this time. As an OSP design engineer what options are out there. Im looking for other opportunities but i feel like im not seeing anything on indeed or linkedin for fiber/coax design. Any advice is greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/Dismal-Pear4865 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hope this is the right spot to ask this. I have a buddy that works for a farming company in the central valley CA. He said a guy came and helped them with their internet, climbed a tower and did something and mentioned something to my buddy about fiber and being one of only 6 or 7 guys in the state with a certain certificate. He said it wasn't that hard to get just had to take a test. What intrigued me was that he said he made over $200k last year. So, I was curious if anyone knew what job or job line that is. I'd like to look into it. submitted by /u/IxxPUNISHERxxI [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi everyone. I'm a telecom engineer and looking to increase my knowledge of 4G / 5G networks & technologies. I saw 4G/5G courses from The Knowledge Academy, 5GWorldPro, Koenig and MPirical. Have you tried any of these? Does anyone have an online instructor-led training course to recommend? Thank you so much for your help and advice. submitted by /u/AtmosphereOk351 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi Guys and Gals! I’ve been wanting to have both my PC and my home theatres streaming box hooked up to Ethernet, since the wifi in my basement can get a bit spotty at times. I’ve tried Wifi extenders and the experience has been okay, but not perfect. There are no existing Ethernet jacks in my basement, so I ran a couple new runs (CAT6A) into my storage room where the telecom cabinet rests on the wall. Now that I’ve run these to the cabinet, I realize I should have posted on here first to make sure I wasn’t wasting my time with something won’t work! I tried initially terminating both cables to ..read more
