Over the past ten years I attempted to write many songs. Unfortunately, I was never able to finish one. I used to tell people all the time that I was not a songwriter. If you know me personally, you would have found that funny. For my own edification, I have written two stage plays, two feature films, poetry, and I self published a book. Yet when it came to writing songs, I was all thumbs, until this year, when I was able to finish writing a song for the first.
The process began from a heartbreaking circumstance. A good friend of mine was going through a tough time. She was homeless, job ..read more

Songwriting is something I am very passionate about. I’m no professional, but it is something I enjoy doing very much. Writing songs is my way of expressing what I am going through, what I see in the world, and what I can’t necessarily put into “just words.” I had the amazing opportunity to help co-write a song on PCC’s album, “Always Sing” but other than that, I don’t have any “professional” experience in this field. That fact hasn’t stopped me from continuing to write, though.
When deciding on what to write about, I try to pull from my own personal life. My faith has been a journey, t ..read more

Summer is here and with it brings the biggest event of the year for students – the student mission trip! In just a few days nearly 100 students and adult leaders will head to Walterboro, SC to be Jesus’ hands and feet!
We know for many parents trip comes with some anxiety about your child going away for a week. All three of my kids have been on multiple mission trips with PCC and I definitely had some nerves when they started going on the trips. So here’s a quick rundown of what the week will look like, and a few things to remember to keep your mind at ease while your child is on the mission ..read more

I was seventeen years old when I wrote my very first full song. I say full song because up until that point, it had been me playing around with words and rhythms, just making all kinds of stuff up. It was more of a fun thing to do–to just play with words and melodies. Some melodies I made up and some I would take from popular songs I loved. I would rewrite them another way just for fun. However, I started taking songwriting more seriously when I felt God calling me to ministry. The call came with a burning desire to write songs–songs I believed God would use for what He desired on the earth ..read more

I’ve known that I wanted to write songs since I was in the second grade. For most of my life writing often came in the form of poems with melodies and music confined to my imagination. Up until the last decade, I was exclusively writing relationship/breakup songs.
In 2014, I began a 2-year program with the National Praise and Worship Institute (NPWI) at Trevecca Nazarene University. While there, I really became interested in writing music about God and my own personal relationship with Him. I knew I had some basic tools for writing a good breakup song (Thank you, Taylor Swift) but writing abo ..read more

We are just a few days away from Easter Sunday – recognized by secular America with bunnies and spring break, and embraced by Christians with church attendance and resurrection songs. It’s a complicated holiday, like so many events that fuse an amalgamation of pagan, secular, and religious beliefs.
For me, as a follower of Jesus, Easter is a time to reflect on the most absurd, incomprehensible, incredible facet of the faith I hold: Jesus died, and then lived again. The resurrection remains something I can’t quite wrap my head around; it’s an annual reminder that my faith is more than si ..read more

Alright, I have a confession…
I’ve been a Christ follower pretty much my whole life, but to be honest – regularly being in the Word? That’s been a bit of a challenge for me. It’s not that I didn’t want to; life just had a knack for getting in the way. But after the year that was 2020, something felt different.
For two years I had watched my daughter get up and read her Bible faithfully everyday, and began feeling extremely convicted that she was modeling this to me, and not the other way around. She definitely inspired me and I was more determined than ever that this was going to be the ..read more

Happy New Year!
It’s hard to believe another year has passed. The year 2023 seemed to go by in a blink, and here we are once again, welcoming a new year. As I prepared for 2024, one of the things I did was pray about my new word. I wrote about my experience choosing a word in 2023 and I’m excited to tell you what I’ve chosen for this year.
Drumroll please…….
My word for 2024 is: JOY!
I first started thinking about JOY several weeks ago when we drove up to Massachusetts to attend the Boston Pops Symphony as a family. Looking back, one of my favorite family vacations was our ve ..read more

Small Groups are kicking off at PCC! We think everyone – whether you’ve been at PCC for one day or 20 years – can benefit from the experience of community that happens in small groups. We were never meant to do life alone, and in fact, science confirms that consistent, meaningful connection with others has a powerful impact on our well-being. If you’re not sure about signing up, check out this interview with one of our staff members, Madison Lloyd, about her experience.
How did you get started with a small group? What made you decide to join one?
I decided to say yes to being in a smal ..read more
