Hi, I have a placement coming up in a hospital and have been assigned to the med ward and stroke unit. My question is what things would you as a physio/ clinical educator like to see students do/ be proficient in if attending this placement? I have completed an Ortho placement at the Royal in bris. So I’m not entirely new to hospitals Either way I’d like to revise on specific info you think/find lacks in students or wish you had known etc. Thankyou so much submitted by /u/Big_Bit_1136 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Realistically, is physio the wrong career path for someone who uses ADHD stimulant medication daily like vyvance/adderall?

An old woman course coordinator rudely told me that physiotherapy would be one of the careers you couldn’t pursue if you use these medications. Because of her attitude, I can’t tell if she is being narrow-minded and discriminatory or whether she has a valid point? I assume the main concern would be about professional presentation (because of dilated pupils and elevated mood). I also notice how paranoid people who work in health professions are about sexual harrassment, and I presume this conflicts with the dopamine agonising effects of stimulants. submitted by /u/Strooper2 [visit reddit] [co ..read more

Physiotherapy in Germany

Hi all I am a physical therapist living in the US. I am married to a German woman. She has her green card. Lately we are thinking to move to Germany. We have a child. Her family lives there. Question for any German Physios. How would this work, would Germany accept my PT license and my credentialing? I am learning German but it's very very slow progress. Being a father and working a typical American PT office where I see 3 patients per hour leaves me exhausted. Danke. submitted by /u/holdmybeer2017 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

GB physio here. I was wondering if any one used Google's workspace for their practice for documentation and patient scheduling and what you experience with it is. Google claims to have secure encryption that has HIPAA compliance. I'm playing with the idea of switching if it makes scheduling and note taking more fluid. submitted by /u/Delaney_physio [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello, I'm a starting grad student in physio and I currently don't have any specific physio disciplines. I'm looking to start reading the bibliography that would be deemed "essential" and that will accompany me throughout my graduation and working years. Although english is not my first language (i'm from brazil), I can read and write it very well. I'm currently reading "Trail guide to the body" and I'm finding it particularly useful. Looking forward towards some of you guys recommendations. Thank you in advance! Never give up! submitted by /u/International_Eye303 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How long would it take to do at least one strengthening exercise on every body part per day?

How long would it take to do at least one strengthening exercise on every body part per day? I've been seeing physiotherapists for about fifteen years now, and I always wonder, if I were to do every recommended exercise so that every muscle or muscle group is strengthened for support, hoe long would that take per day? I'm currently doing exercises for my hands that involve 3x10 sets of exercises, but that's just one body part. submitted by /u/NicaNocturnal [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

International Physios in the UK- Visa and switching bands help?

Hello everyone, I'm due to finish my MSc (Pre-reg) in the UK in a few months, so I am applying for Band 5 jobs atm. I've just found out from my lectures that my HCPC registration likely won't be ready until November/December due to when my uni's board meets. Due to this, I will likely be working as a Band 4 until my registration comes through and I can fully practice as a Band 5. Has only had to do it, and how did it affect visas? I'll be hired as a Band 5 but won't be working as one for a month or so. Thanks! submitted by /u/mermaidlexi [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
