I was recently diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea with blood oxygen levels dropping to 81%. I'm on night three of using a Cpap machine and it sucks but it could be worse and I'm looking forward to getting my life back. Right now I'm using the Phillips Dreamwear full face mask but was wondering what everyone else found most comfortable. Any tips to help a newbie? submitted by /u/BlairDayton0 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Oral Appliance vs Generic Online Snoreguard

I've been trying an online Amazon-bought snoreguard mouthpiece like Zquiet and Zyppah.... I -did- get an improvement in snoring and daytime fatigue. So theoretically if I get an oral appliance made by an ortho --- it should follow that it should be even BETTER because it's a custom made fitted device? Any experiences out there with oral appliances?? submitted by /u/Mysterious-Dish-6259 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have pretty bad sleep apnea, that seems to be getting worse. I have a permanent profile for it but because of my duty location(Alaska) it is impossible to take my CPAP to the field. How many people here received a Medical Evaluation Board for Sleep apnea? What was the process like? My leadership could care less about my condition until we get to the field and hear me snoring, gasping and choking in my sleep. I am tired of having my profile glossed over and being deemed “deployable” despite having clear issues. submitted by /u/HawaiiCougars [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I was just diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea. After months of insomnia and years of bad sleep, I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing how this could improve so many of my health issues. I kind of don't know where to start in terms of choosing a mask. Any anecdotes of personal experience would be very helpful. I sleep on my back and my side. submitted by /u/mother_shoe99 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

If not SA, wtf is my problem?

I'm (M, 48) really shocked. I've done two full sleep tests which came back indicating I don't have SA. Ever since I was a kid I've snored, occassionally stopped breathing, had excessive daytime sleepiness. Everyone I know, myself included, was convinced I had sleep apnea. My snoring could wake the neighbours. I regularly stop breathing and occasionally wake up gasping for air. The lowest my oxygen saturation level was 93.4% I'm quite gutted as I hoped to have a cpap which would solve all my life's problems. (Mainly mental health issues that I was convinced were exacerbated by poor sleep). I'l ..read more

I'm 38m and fairly fit now. I did a take home test (side and back sleeper) - didn't sleep quite well with the equipment, but got enough sleep. What prompted me to ask for a sleep test was a few years ago, someone recorded my snoring (5 years ago) and it was bad - stopping, gasping for air. I've lost over 50+ pounds since then and since losing weight, I've slept better, don't feel tired and don't take naps during the day. Essentially, don't think I have any symptoms. Despite that, I had a vague understanding that while losing weight helps, it doesn't completely erase the apnea due to age and o ..read more

I was diagnosed with OSA in 2020 and it's taken me this long to figure out that the cpap is causing me sinus pain and other weird (to me) symptoms. My nose gets really hot and red throughout the day like it's wind burned and I have sinus pain that affects my top front teeth. Has anyone else experienced this? The nose rash even had me go get checked for lupus at one point ? submitted by /u/No_Persimmon_8728 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

For 3 years, I have been trying to understand why I am tired most of the day. It's like I'm in slow motion all the time. I always want to take a nap late in the morning or in the afternoon. I'm 30 years old, no health problems, I try to exercise at least twice a week (swimming, running...). I don't take any medication. I did several sleep studies. The first sleep doctor told me I had nothing and normal sleep. I changed my sleep doctor, the second had me do several polysomnographies which came to the same conclusion. In picture a summary of the last one. https://ibb.co/jMF5SD7 https://ibb.co/Y ..read more

I am feeling frustrated and hopeless and needed somewhere to vent. I have an AHI of 9.2 with min SPO2 at 90%, which puts me at "mild" apnea, but my symptoms are anything but mild. Fatigue, needing to sleep a lot, morning headaches, bruxism, waking up at night (to pee or gasping for air or drenched in sweat or with my heart pounding), brain fog, and recently my libido died and I started having PE and ED...basically I am sexually dead. Despite that, and despite my maxilofacial surgeon doing a CBCT and finding everything that's wrong with my face and is causing the problem, my insurance refuses ..read more
