Hey guys, I’ve been using CPAP for about 6 months now. I started using the nasal pillows, however I recently switched to the F20i hybrid face mask. The reason for this is due to me mouth breathing after being asleep. In my ResMed app, it shows that my scores were higher like 98-100 using the pillows, however, they range from 88-95 using the hybrid face mask. Should I continue with the pillows, or try the hybrid mask from here on out? I also downloaded Oscar and just recently put an SD card in my machine so I’m looking forward to tracking my results here soon!! Also, are the EFR settings a hug ..read more

Every single night for the last 5 months i have woke my baby and fiancée up at 2-3 am she is pregnant again, 12 weeks and needs her rest. She is an angel. Even she is getting tired of it and sometimes i think me too. She says it sounds like a zoo in there. Thats because ive been forced to sleep on the couch in the front room. She keeps saying on nights like this its really hard not to resent you. I already feel like shit all the time because of the osa and my family life is taking a beating. The appointment with the consultant can't come soon enough. submitted by /u/Right-Program-9346 [visit ..read more

UPPP recovery blues

10 days ago I had a modified UPPP, tonsillectomy, lingual tonsillectomy and coblation channelling of the tongue for mild sleep apnoea but mainly snoring. Mentally I am not coping. When will the pain end? I still can't eat because swallowing is agony. I feel like my soft palate now hangs down my throat and I end up choking while I'm sleeping. My surgeon said it all looks normal but I can't talk properly. I wonder if I'll ever be normal again. Really needing words of encouragement right now because I am so down. The only benefit I've had is how much weight I've lost due to lack of food. submit ..read more

Has anyone used the EMA sleep apnea mandibular advancement device?

Hi everyone, I'd like to try a MAD however my sleep test results mean my insurance won't kick in, leaving the cost to me at US$5k. Rather than spend that amount I'd like to try a cheaper option. I found a company online that will send you a mold kit and then make you a EMA for $400, which I thought was reasonable. https://www.teethretaindesigns.com/products/ema-snore-guard Does anyone have any experience with this device and can comment on it? My biggest personal concern is that I grind my teeth quite severely, and I'm worried how that might effect things (I currently wear a night-guard that ..read more

Seeking advice on mandibular advancement device (MAD)

Hi, I have moderate sleep apnea and significant bruxism/TMJ. A year ago I sought out a sleep apnea dentist and completed a sleep test using the NightOwl device. I was surprised that I fell significantly under the threshold to receive insurance to help offset the cost. A year later I am now reconsidering this option, however the facility charges US$5k for the device (assuming no reduction from insurance). This is a lot of money for me to risk on a treatment that I'm worried may be inapproriate for me, due to the nature of my teeth-grinding. I rock my bottom jaw forward and backward (rather tha ..read more

The tiniest irritation!

I’m doing pretty great overall with my APAP. Zero issues falling asleep and my events are less than one/hour every night. However, I am still waking up. I feel the constant need to rub my nose or face under the mask. It’s not skin irritation, I have no redness. It almost feels like there’s a hair caught inside. I thought it might be the humidity so I’ve been lowering it each night and last night turned it completely off, but still had the issue. I’m wondering if the very edge of the rubber is moving a little with airflow and creating that sensation… the rubber is so light. My Dad has these “s ..read more
