I play squash with my 3.5 year old pretty regularly - we've been doing so for 6-12 months - but could use some tips on how to enhance the experience. Here's what we currently do: we mostly do short rallies where I feed the ball off the front wall to him and he hits it back and then we rally for a couple shots - he mostly hits forehands. recs on other drills or games to do would be good he just uses an old racquet of mine (20+ year old adult Jonathan power dunlop) but would like recommendations for a raquet that is more age and size appropriate ball wise - we usually use the blue dot ball whe ..read more

How do you mark lets/strokes when the attacker hits the ball?

I play club squash and ref some of the home games. I've noticed that the expected marking decision for when the attacking player hit's the ball with their racket it's always given as a no let, "because you played the shot", no matter how egregious the position of the defending player. e.g. There's been lots of occasions when the attacking player will go for the shot, be completely obstructed by the defending player to the point of bashing in to them, but still make contact with the ball because it's easier than pulling out of the shot at that point - the shot will then hit the tin and the att ..read more

Which racket?

I bought the head for 50% as a self present for my bday. My girlfriend bought me the Dunlop (full price) for my bday, I’ve ended up with both it seems for now! I’ve been gradually getting back into squash and wanted a new racket. I’m mid level player going for a sweat and casual games with likeminded players. Is it worth returning hers and saving her 90$. Depending on the difference of opinion these rackets get will help sway me on this point. The Dunlop racket feels and is lighter when holding both 125 vs 145. Since both rackets feel lighter than my old racket I can’t tell if playin ..read more

What are the pros and cons of each? When I watch the pros on squashtv, a drop short from the back of the court is almost always straight, is there a reason for this? submitted by /u/exreefer [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Semi-beginner upgrading squash racket -- would love advice!

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to squash -- been playing less than a year, but have improved a good deal in that time. I'm currently using the Squash Galaxy Intro 5000, which seemed fine -- until I borrowed a buddy's racket and realized how HEAVY it is. Anyhow, I'm looking to upgrade to a nicer (and lighter) racket, but I'm still enough of a beginner that I don't have any idea what I'm looking for, or what kind of racket would fit my playstyle, etc. Would anyone have a recommendation for a good all-around racket I could upgrade to while still figuring out my game? Thanks! submitted by /u/leroyj ..read more
