What recommendations would you give me after suffering with chronic sinusitis and rhinitis for 8 years?

Hi all! I’ve always had nasal allergies ever since I can remember, and of course, they get worse over spring time. Around 8 years ago I suddenly had an extreme sharp pain down the base of the skull to my shoulders for a day, and the next day my face was in so much pain I couldn’t open my eyes, and I couldn’t breathe through my nose. Needless to say, that was the start of my problems. I tried decongestant after decongestant to no avail. I’ve had two CT scans stating I had mild ethmoidal sinusitis and mild turbinate hypertrophy, countless visits to 3 different ENTs, 2 failed attempts at nasal e ..read more

Skin/Beauty Product Allergy?

Hello everybody, Anyone know the common face allergies for skin and beauty products? I used "Acne Free" brand face wash from Walgreens, and the next day my face was itchy and swollen, so I stopped using the face wash. I also recently used "Milk" jelly blush yesterday, and my face is swollen today. I am including a list of ingredients for both products and I circled the two matching ingredients in both (not sure if that helps with anything though). I also did not sleep enough last night, so that might be a reason my face is swollen today? https://preview.redd.it/3ggemv6at5rc1.png?width=956 ..read more

Hi! My 17month old daughter suffered anaphylaxis at the weekend and within about 10minutes we ended up in the back of an ambulance and she was given adrenaline. We are told her reaction was very severe (as we suspected) We were sent home after 24 hours with epipens and have an appointment with the allergy specialist in about 6 weeks to start tests. We are in the UK (therefore under the NHS) I'm just a bit nervous and don't know what to except from the appointments or testing and wondered if anyone could share their knowledge or experience. The terminology confuses me too, is it called anaphyl ..read more

How to treat or prevent with an condition like this? 22 (M) The trigger of this hives is when I don't workout for a couple of days and go to the gym again, the hives are triggered when I'm having DOMS/Muscle soreness. Please help me with this condition, I searched about it on the internet and says it can be Urticaria but my nurse friend says that it's Myolisis. I've tried to prevent all kinds of food that may trigger an allergic reaction, but that doesn't seems the trigger. I'm stuck and aware that the main cause or trigger is having an muscle soreness. Got diagnosed 3 weeks ago with dust mite allergy, due to severe reaction at work. Work (through Sedwick) requested me to fill an accomodation form since it’s a physical job involving dusting Doctor refuses to reply to my email I sent a week ago with 95% of the information sent by me, just 2 pages to be filled and signed by them (with the info I gave) Office forces me to schedule a follow up visit because it’s apparently impossible to do it over phone / email but tele health with a $100 copay is completely doable (???????) I ask why I have to be seen instead of doing it asynchronous, since it ..read more

1 gram of cashew… am I panicking for no reason?

Hello guys! My toddler had a food challenge done on cashew at the end of 2023. He had 1 gram given to him at once and it sent him into anaphylaxis within minutes. My toddler had to have an epipen and inhaler. At that time I thought I will lose my child… Before the food challenge he had a skin prick done that was very positive. Now, before I come back to that doctor for OIT, wasn’t that an oversight to give whole 1 gram of cashew to a toddler whose skin prick was positive and who had a prior reaction to other nuts. Please share your thoughts. My mom’s heart feels not at ease. submitted by /u ..read more

So apparently I have a rare disorder that causes anaphylaxis and I almost died today, I had a severe allergic reaction that attacked everything, hives EVERYWHERE from my feet to the top of my head, nasal passages closed completely, my throat closed a lot, in the ambulance they monitored my heart and I had tachycardia for hours. This came from cardio. I have Exercise-induced urticaria/ anaphylaxis. All this time we were trying to narrow down what my allergen could be. We thought it was shellfish or sesame, but I can eat both of those things sometimes with no symptoms at all. Infact ive only ha ..read more

My experience with chemical patch testing - AMA

Like the title says, I recently underwent a chemical allergy patch test. I searched for other’s experiences beforehand, so I figured mine would be helpful to share. On the first day, they adhered a “T.R.U.E” patch to my upper back (you can Google the different ingredients tested in this patch system) along with ten extra discs containing my own products. Two days later, I returned for an initial reading. I had nothing. I was experiencing mild itching where the tape adhered to my skin, and I couldn’t fully shower which was not the greatest. Other than that - no discomfort. Over the course of t ..read more
