21 April, 2024 Reading School and Wilson’s School soared to gold in the boys’ competition at the National Schools Championships. Reading triumphed in the Key Stage 4 age group as Wilson’s took the spoils in Key Stage 3 to tie up a brilliant weekend at the National Badminton Centre, including a signed shirt session from Badminton England’s Annie Lado. In the Key Stage 4 round robin, Reading eased past Loughborough Grammar School 5-0 before an edgy contest with Wilson’s School saw them narrowly win 3-2. 21 April 2024 Rachel Choong and Jack Shephard struck gold at the Spanish Para Badminton International in Vitoria.  The SH6 mixed doubles second seeds won comfortably in the final while Choong also reached the semi-finals in the SH6 women’s singles. Shephard and Choong began their campaign with a simple 21-3 21-2 win over Maxime Greboval and Anastasiia Zavalii. 21 April, 2024 Ethan Rose shone in Slovakia to win the men’s singles KAWASAKI Slovak Open in a thrilling 64-minute final against Karan Rajan Rajarajan. The 21-year-old battled through four rounds before coming up against the Dane in the final-day showpiece, coming out on top with a 13-21 21-18 21-17 triumph. Rose opened with a convincing 21-18 21-14 win against Dominik Kopriva but was made to work for his round of 16 victory against sixth seed Brian Holtschke. 20 April, 2024 Kendrick School claimed a double crown with victory in Key Stage 3 and 4 girl’s competitions at the 2024 National Schools Championships. The South Central team, based in Reading, took the spoils in both age categories on the opening day of competition, with all eight girls winning gold. The National Schools Championships returned in 2024 for the first time in five years, with 700 teams entered across the four events, spanning 38 counties. . The very first piece of All England silverware is home. The All England Mixed Doubles Championship Challenge Cup has recently been acquired by the National Badminton Museum and now sits in pride of place at the heart of the National Badminton Centre, Badminton England’s headquarters in Milton Keynes. The cup was first presented at the very first All England Badminton Championships in 1899. The first winners were English pair D.M. Oakes and Miss Daisey St. John. 18 April, 2024 Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bolton are enjoying an influx of badminton fever after support from the Badminton England Development Fund. Sports coordinator Parth Pindoria set up weekly community-based badminton sessions at the temple in 2023 and now has over 40 players in attendance each week. England claimed 20 titles at the 106th YONEX All England Seniors (Masters) Championships 2024. Hosted in Hatfield, the event saw competitors challenge across 44 events over three days. Debbie Miller and Julie Bradbury triumphed in an all-English final to claim their second Women’s Doubles title in the 55 and over category. Up against the second seeds Jane Ashford and Sara Foster, Bradbury and Miller won 21-19 21-15 in the final. Youngsters were given a day to remember during the YONEX All England as the annual Racket Pack Festival finals took place.
