Dear readers Timothy is progressing well in the Under 15s. He has beaten rival Asher Ooi in 2 sets. He is now headed for a finals match against Gary Chau of Vic. Gary was playing as BS2 in the team event when he beat Terrence Kok in 2 sets. Gary also lost to Jie Ying Chan of NSW 2 in the team event. Timothy has a good chance to get gold in the singles. He is also teamed up with Asher in the boys doubles. He will meet Jordan Yang and F Zhao. Timothy is also in the finals with Joanne in the mixed doubles. They face Asher and S Tjonadi. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he might get a t ..read more

Dear readers Now that the team events are over, the players fight for personal glory. A few of the WA players are expected to progress far. Their bodies must be sore, but I am sure their spirits are high after winning silver for the WAsps. The junior Scorpion teams must also be proud of their final ranking. Boys singles Samuel Shields had to go to the plate after losing to Gary Chau. Likewise Dion Binod after facing 5th seed D Batra. Mike Wang had a better run, beating E Sam in 3 sets. However, he was defeated by Mike Chang. Tyson Ugle also goes to the plate after losing to Ryan Lei ..read more

Dear readers The Wasps team goes into battle for a gold. In recent history, WA has only fought for gold on 2 occasions. In  2012, when Kim Rodgers was coach, Tyz was Captain, my wife Annie was Umpire, I was the manager and Jaz was Asst coach. We could not beat NSW 1 and lost 1/7. We had to settle for silver. In 2017, WA fought Vic 1 for gold. Yuli was coach with Annie as the Manager and President Lily as Umpire. The final score was 4/4 but we lost on games at 10/8. It was so close and again we had to settle for silver. Joanne was in that team. Today, WA had another chance to try an ..read more

Dear readers The day started with a semi finals match between SA and the Wasps.  South Australia can be a challenge to WA. Last year, they beat WA to get bronze. WA managed to beat SA 5/3 this time. Special mention needs to go to Cindy Lawrence who had a 3 setter yet again. Her fighting spirit keeps going and has helped WA stay ahead in games and points. Timothy and Joanne are also doing well after fighting a 3 setter. All the other WAsps players are doing their best to stay ahead and should be congratulated for their fighting spirit. That means WA goes to the finals with a chance of gett ..read more

Dear readers The players are still fighting it out even as I am typing. The Wasps team is fighting arch rivals Vic which is seeded 1. Vic has always been a strong team. If WA can beat them, then WA will be fighting for gold in the finals. Cindy has gone down fighting in a 3 setter. This plucky girl has improved so much and matured as a player. It is down to the 2 XDs to see how WA goes. This could go down to points. The news just came in that Cindy and Terrence lost in 3 sets. It is now up to Timothy and Joanne to bring the scores back in our favor. Yes, even as I am typing, Timothy an ..read more

Dear readers The Wasps team had another easy run. They won 7-1 against Queensland. That is a great result as Queensland can be a challenge. There were 3 matches that went  3 sets. Timothy and  Joanne survived their 3 sets in their nsingles. Unfortunately Wei Yann ran out of steam and lost his 3rd set. Good effort all. Dear readers It was a tough day and a reality check for the Scorpions today. They lost 8-0 to Vic Demons who are seeded 1. All the games were lost in 2 sets. The Vic players are much older than the Scorpions. The Scorpions should not be too upset and treat this as a good experience.
