The 25th Annual Burlington & Cool Schools Penguin Plunge was held on Saturday, February 1st at the Burlington Waterfront. Over 1,200 people braved the elements and plunged into the frigid waters of Lake Champlain to show their support for the Special Olympics athletes in Vermont. The Penguin Plunge is the largest fundraising event for Special Olympics Vermont, and this year, over $614,000 was raised to support sports training and competition opportunities across local and school programs, health screenings, and leadership opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities ..read more

Special Olympics Vermont (SOVT) athlete, Dustin Hollister is set to represent Vermont at the 2020 X Games in Aspen, Colorado this month. Dustin will be competing alongside Vermont native, Hannah Teter, in the Unified Snowboard Race on Thursday, January 23rd. Spring has sprung here in Vermont and it’s a great time to make sure the whole family is up to date on dental exams and cleanings. In February, Special Olympics International, in partnership with SCOTT Sports and Marty Smith from ESPN announced that 15 state programs, including Special Olympics Vermont (SOVT), would be awarded a SCOTT Sports road bike to present to a deserving athlete.
