earthstory: Another timelapse video of some more progress made on this 18” Diplomystus dentatus from the Green River Formation - a fish which hasn’t seen the light of day for 50 million years. This particular fish is from the 18” layer which is slightly harder material to prep but it’s all worth it as the preservation of fish from this layer (versus the split fish layer for example) is far better and they have a lovely glossy black/dark brown coloration. Over a 40-year period the Baron had amassed a collection comprising tens of thousands of individual fossils.
